What's amazing is despite the complete turmoil surrounding this franchise, management is pretending nothing is wrong. I guess they don't want to scare off any potential trade partners. I'm still laughing at Allvin's stupid interview.
- VanHockeyGuy

I was kind of looking at the cap situation league-wide this morning and only 4 teams have 5 million+ in cap space. Only 9 have 2 million… half of the teams are showing absolutely no cap space. I guess that’s the result when every forward thinks they’re worth 7 million and every Defenceman thinks they’re worth 5 million, when the average salary should be 3.5 million.
The 4 teams with cap are all in full tank mode and not looking to add a Boeser, Horvat, Miller or Myers. So any trade we make, we’ll probably have to retain. And I’m not sure it’s too smart to retain 4 million/season on JT or Brock. We’re gonna be in cap Hell for a long long time.

I was flipping through and scanned past a rumour that had Horvat to Boston.

Not sure if it was fan submission or if a name as attached.

Craig Smith, Mike Reilly plus 1st in '23, Lohrei, Harrison plus another name I didn't catch for Horvat, Rathbone.

got to be fan submission otherwise Lysell would have been added but that wasn't the name I didn't recognize.

Bruins prospect pool is garbage, there's better teams to trade Horvat to

The teardown/rebuild will take 7 years, so timing could work out well.

Cap's are calculated over the 186 day season. So Horvat at the tdl would be 1.4M against the cap.

Cap is more complex than straight annual cap when making in-season trades. LTIR also makes it more complex

Edit: minivan beat me to it

I said the same thing in the summer, when Bergeron was still unsure about returning.
They will tear it down and rebuild in a hurry though.

No, I went to look at their depth charts and I didn't recognize so I probably just didn't see it or maybe it wasn't a player and was a pick. Just know there was a , and another word after.

Id think we’d want Lysell, Carlo, Frederick(for cap reasons) 23-1st.
For Rathbone and Horvat and we’d have to retain on Horvat. Neither team has any caproom though.. so it’s very hard to make anything work.

They're built to win now for sure and have a good chance to do so, I respect the all-in approach which is why if I were them, I'd be open to moving Lysell and a 1st for another upgrade.

In hearing that, I would have to think that maybe Detroit would be a realistic destination for Boeser or Horvat.

Craig Smith is 3.1M and Mike Reilly is 3M. That cover's the daily cap of Horvat.

Would allow Van to trade another LHD and not have to call up a forward from Abbotsford.

Possible, sooner or later Yzerman is going to want his team to take the next step and a solid NHL center would help that step more than some potential prospects and picks.

I wouldn't believe it until it happens. Remember how many destinations were in the bag landing spots for Miller?

The Chipmunks will probably sit on it and disect it until it is too late.

For a Bo deal, I want quality > quantity

If it's Schenn/Myers then sure, lets see what prospects they have

The Vancouver Canucks won’t pay to move a player
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts.

“So I think what the Canucks’ve realized is, they don’t want to trade away first-round picks. They don’t want to trade away any other picks really. They really want to get back the second-rounder they traded to Chicago in the Jason Richardinson deal.

They don’t want to move away players who they are going to have to incentivize people to move.

And again, it’s not a teardown, but I think what they’re willing to do is move a core player, at least one, to say, okay, maybe we can do it this way. And they’ve told people that’s not Pettersson and my first question was: wait a second, Hughes? And what people said to me was the Canucks just said, look, it’s not something we’re looking to do.

I just think that if you are interested in him, it’s going to take an enormous offer to get him out of there. But I just don’t think he’s untouchable like Pettersson appears to be.

But I think what this says to me is that the Canucks know if they’re going to switch around their mix a bit and breathe new life into their roster. They can’t just make cap dump deals without incentivizing people.”

I'd take highest value. Not every trade is going to fill every need as some seem to make them out to be.
