Fully understood lol, but he does play a tougher game than Hughes or Hischer, who was manhandled by Tkachuk at the end of their game last night. Not sure if you saw it or not. No one came to help him and Tkachuk pretty much did whatever he wanted. Miller would’ve at least stepped in.

Edmonton doesn’t have games in hand, they played them already. Vancouver has games in hand. Just need to go 4-0-1 before the new year.

And hope the teams above you lose.

Well yeah, if Canucks get 9 points they are tied with Oilers/Avalanche. As long as those teams lose all their games…there’s a pretty easy path to the playoffs for the Canucks.

I like your train of thought, never mind these guys who want to rebuild, they are just constant whiners, who don't appreciate greatness when they see it.

I’ve gotta believe hockey trades are still needed. Cannot gain only picks & prospects. Still though a blend is good if we can make enough trades to change the chemistry for now & restock the pipeline.

I too am glad to see Pod & Hog in Abby. It’s a good change they & Abby need. With this season so inconsistent insulating & developing them is best.

I still maintain lines need dynamic duos with good 3rd wheels to make it all gel. The mix isn’t there to do it imo. Each line needs to have 2 good 200’ F’s a playmaker & sniper. The more a F can double or triple up on those facets the closer we will get to being good. Each top 3 lines needs at least 1 play driver.

My assessment on the above…

Play drivers:
Petey
Miller

Playmakers:
Petey
Miller
Kuzmenko

Snipers:
Petey
Miller
Bo
Kuzmenko

Boeser is neither til he finds his groove & has a steady playmaker. So he falls into the 3rd wheel category & specialist needing 2 linemates to carry the load.
Garland is a tweener not really standing out at anything. A water bug out there but doesn’t achieve much.

3rd wheels:
Miky

Pod still needs seasoning but has the tools to be one.
Hog still looking to define what he is.

Overall F’s lack tenacity & puck retrieval & puck battling on a steady basis. Only the 4th line shows these skills & work ethic.

Just my quick rough thoughts.

There are players in every draft that display those abilities but usually BPA stops Vancouver from doing the right thing.

I prefer an upheaval is needed. Rebuild retool & tank don’t do it for me anymore. Time for a new buzz word lol

I think NJ should look at Schenn and Timo Meier if they want to get bigger and tougher to play against.

Yup & why BPA ain’t my thing. Identify the core pieces & add to them. Hire the right coach who is onboard & in sync with Mgmt.

1st round is for top RHD & C’s if there. Later rounds picks take longer to develop so need & specific skill sets. Speed & mobility akways are a good start. Projects for late picks but still must be good skaters. Todays game is skating & speed & the hardest to teach.

Should teams stay away from Canuck players, because to a man there’s no heart or will to win, or should they collect them because to a man they are under performing and will over deliver in a trade?

I don't care about the label, although I do find it hilarious that this organization is terrified of the rebuild word

Just start making moves with the 3-7 years from now window in mind, the next 2 years this team will suck, any realist can see it. It's hard to make moves with the cap barely going up with almost 90% of the league right at the cap with the other 5% on strict internal, budgets. You're left dealing with 2 or 3 teams that can take on big contracts without sending one back and have the internal budget to do so.

And competing with 15-20 other teams trying to shed cap that are talking to those same 2-3 teams.

That's why cap space = weapon...you hold a poop load of leverage in trades over the desperate teams like the Canucks are right now. D1ickinson +2nd for Stillman

Ya, but he only has 3 years left on his bloated contract. Expires on the back half of being 3 years away from being 3 years away.

You want Hayes just wait till he is bought out this offseason

Those who clamour for players with size I like 6’ or 6’1” around 180#+ generally speaking. They can fill in as they mature. If good to great skating it’s the foundation I like.

It seems like you have to really do your homework before acquiring a Canuck. Because the player either flourishes away from this team or gets exposed for being a fringe/non-NHL'er that this fanbase/management overrated(Granlund, Baertschi, Stecher, Hutton, Sbisa, DelZotto, Gagner)

I can't stand players like Hayes, but 3 years of Hayes is better than 7 years of Miller.

This adds up to why buyouts are needed. Eg Pearson is only for 2 years. Ride out Myers last year if untradable. With the cap being pretty much stagnant take that & the next 2 years to do what’s necessary to reshape the line up. Refocus on getting 2 lines loaded up firing on all cylinders & toy around with the 3rd line.

I realize numbers are difficult, but they are 9 points back.

OH right my bad I didn't factor in the big OIL win last night!!

All minor details.
