#Isles place Nikita Soshnikov on unconditional waivers.

#Avs place Danila Zhuravylov on unconditional waivers.

#Bruins place Craig Smith on waivers.

#RedWings place Austin Czarnik on waivers.

Smith is a big name to be waived. There'll be interest there but cap.

This ownership and the previous were a gong show and even though the Giffiths' were a little better they still stunk most years.

GM after GM for at least the last three have been dumb one way or another.

- VANTEL

As I just said, only a few GM’s, or time periods, have they drafted well enough to be competitive in their 50+ years. That’s why they’ve never won.

Between 1998 and 2006 they drafted decently which laid the foundation for a Cup run. They drafted H. Sedin, D. Sedin, Bieksa, Hansen, Kesler, Schneider, Edler, Raymond, Bourdon & Grabner.

You’re making my point for me. That’s exactly the problem. The few times they’ve drafted well they’ve managed to be competitive. The organization just hasn’t done it well enough throughout its history.
- LeftCoaster

Drafting has long been a sore spot.

Recent history has us in the mess. GMMG although in cup runs from a roster he inherited really set back the franchise being the worst at drafting. Left nothing & it being so deep it has come to this. JB followed up drafting better than average but messed up everything else. JV Boeser Pod & Klimovich are the recent draft picks that are the legacy of youth that hasn’t done nearly enough. All 2nd & later picks other than Demko we’re misses.

Pat Quinn was as much of a problem as every other poor drafting GM in Canucks history. He took Linden 2nd overall, lots of better players after him. He took Herter 8th overall (bust), he took Nedved 2nd overall & Antoski 18th overall in 1990, he took Stojanov 7th overall in 1991.

His drafting was crap given his draft positions!

More like feared.

He had a few great trades though, that’s where he set things up for himself. Hard to do this day and age though.

More cap room is coming either this year or next (depending on if the players vote to pay off escrow). Then GMs will have the freedom to spend foolishly again.

We'll have at least 2.4 mil more space next summer when Virtanen and Holtby come off the books. If Poolman LTIRetires, that could add yet another 2.5 mil. More than enough to re-sign Horvat should they choose to.

They always had the funds to do it, the question was do they want to do it. The makeup of the team is not good and the same results year after year. Fans are starting to get tired of this.

The bigger question is, will they have enough to pay Kuzmenko his 6.5 million, Bear his 4.2 million and Schenn hiss 3.25 million, as well as Bo and his 8.75 million?

After they trade Miller for another soft Swedish prospect, yes.

Adding to that getting a 9oa for a goalie is rare or less. Ty LL

Now we wait to see if the Schneider trade tree continues or gets better or worse.

We could use the forever need of RHD &/or playmaking C next draft. Boeser needs that if still here.

So difficult to be optimistic of in season trades so maybe the TDL is a win if not off season moves MUST happen to remake this roster properly.
