I have zero doubt that they’ll figure out how to be capped out with a mediocre team. That’s been this team’s specialty for years
- Nucker101

That is a whole different story. They will have the cap room but how they spend it is a different ball game.

There is no reason to bring back OEL next year and that is a seven-mil savings right there.

I think he’ll start to slowly distance himself from this mess and eventually retire.
- Nucker101

Since Aquilini acquired this team he has now hired 4 GMs that had never been a GM before, Nonis, Gillis, Benning & Allvin, why would a billionaire hire people who have never held the job he's hiring for?

Of course. Top teams don’t care about bottom dwellers.

They don’t even bother to show up for 60 minutes against teams like ARI/VAN, 20-40 minutes of trying is usually enough to win

- Nucker101

Well all the bottom teams have boatloads of cap. Then you have the idiot teams that don't have cap and have a bad team.

Because experienced GM's (Lombardi) and such won't work for Aquilini.

After 3 years in Vancouver no one will remember the cups he helped win.

I disagree.

The cap was expected to go up by 4 mil and it could. It could go up by 2 mil or one mil but it really should not matter because as Rubes suggested it just gives more GMs the breathing room to spend foolishly.

I think any GM that plays by the rules of the salary cap needs to go back to GM school. Christ even I could maneuver the Canucks salary cap.

The 4 mil increase is coming but whether it is this year or next really doesn't matter. Mean b1tch Emilie will figure it out.

- VANTEL

I was talking about next season. It's not going up 4 mil next season.

Yup. The teams who spend wisely will be laughing at the rest

That Miller deal was Wise, and the OEL trade is the 3 Wise Men of Wiserest

Kudo's to Arizona for taking advantage of a desperate hockey team.

Fair point...

@patersonjeff
on the #Canucks re-signing Horvat:

"Are you paying for this guy that got on an absolute tear in goal-scoring & wins you a ton of face-offs? We know the penalty-killing hasn't worked for Bo...the shutdown role...you have to be wary of the overpayment."

I wish the media scrutinized the other contracts on this team this hard. The Boeser deal is so bad

Instead they claimed Boeser was fair market price.

Miller getting paid as a 1C for 2/3rds of a season in that role is another one...

There is no win on what the team does with Horvat.
You are going to get the crowd "You can't even sign your best player" and then the other side "You really overpaid him"

I think the best thing is trade for first a second and a prospect on an ELC.

Unfortunately that most likely means trading for 3 soft swedes.

Yet Bo and Pouty look like the best 2 penalty killing pair.
It is like they pay a 30 goal scorer for never scoring 30 goals and paying a 3rd liner, one time 20 goal scorer almost 5 million.

Christ, this team pays Garland almost 5 million and people in here were guzzling over him

But we don’t sign the contracts. I still remember Benning rolling his eyes when a fan asked him about trading Ryan Miller. They don’t give a poop about what’s posted online by fans about moves. Sbisa got shat on by the fans during his first year here and they signed him for 2 years at 3.6M per year after that.

I’m pretty sure if they polled this fanbase on who to sign, Miller vs Horvat that Horvat would win in a landslide.

Management gets what they deserve

Desperate team or desperate GM?
The team didn't need to make that deal, but the GM telegraphed that deal for almost a year beforehand.
Desperate GM's make stupid moves, and stupid desperate GM's telegraph it before making such stupid desperate moves.
