How far back do you want to go? I remember getting a program at the game as a kid and on the cover it had a picture of Jake Milford and Harry Neale with the quote “We don’t know what we’re doing, but we think it’s starting to work. So I guess there’s nothing new under the sun.

You are right. When Gillis walked in announcing there is going to be major change should have set off red flags.

200 is the goal, 300 is likely where we end up. This new blogger will never show at this rate. Does Carol still get paid for hits to the forum in her blog?

They get paid by views on the blog, but I believe the views are based on unique views by IP address so if you just sit their hitting refresh on it, it will only count as one.

I still stand by my guns that this problem goes back before Benning. I still think dating back to 2008 or earlier there were signs of trouble and when Gillis walked in announcing things were going to be done differently and he would have a new and different team.

When no one was available, he had his hands tied to sign the same old players and went through draft picks trying to win now by adding. He cleaned the cupboards of draft picks and prospects. Last minute signings of the Twins in Sweden again handcuffing the cap and locking players in with NMC and full NTCs.

Time heals lots of things, but the last few games fans were chanting Fire Gillis.

Then FA brings in a totally first-time crew of Benning Linden and Willy who were inexperienced and dumb. Trying to fill the holes left by the last guys, moves of desperation one after the other. Thus, the airplane, Fire Benning.

What does FA do? Hires another inexperienced group with no experience other than old man Rutherford who basically got fired (quit) by his last team for being outdated and no longer on top of his game.

Each group they hire the hole gets deeper and deeper. Nothing will change until they blow this fu cker up. It is just crazy to think one person other than the owner is responsible for this mess.

Yes and no…..at the end of the day most competing franchises deplete both their prospect pool and their draft picks to try and win the Stanley Cup. This is not unique to the Vancouver Canucks or Mike Gillis.

Benning had a great opportunity to rebuild, tons of cap space and some desirable trading assets. He did a great job his first year getting picks and using them. But to your point, at the end of the day he told Aquilini what he wanted to hear in that he could build a contender quickly, which turned out to be completely false.

Everything goes back to Aquilini, which I wrote this morning, who thinks he can replicate the massive successes they had for a five year stretch just a few years after he purchased 100% of the team.

Yeah, I'm okay with having a poop prospect pool when you're winning games. But when you're losing every season and still giving up more picks than you acquire then that's just pathetic and the reason why this team is now in a position where they have to trade away a player like Horvat.

Almost every new manager who’s hired says the same stuff. I’ve heard numerous times from numerous general managers from different franchises that things need to change.

Craig Berube just said it about the Blues. Fletcher said it last year about the Flyers and then proceeded to make them worse lol. I can’t remember who said it but someone said when you haven’t won anything in 50 plus years there’s obviously systemic issues within an organization. Maybe in LA before they started to win? Or maybe it was about the Canucks? I’ll look it up.

That’s Benning to a tee trying to get Aquilini back to the winners circle by taking shortcuts. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for him.

The team is still on that path. Traded away a 2nd round pick just to clear cap space for this season and next. Signing Mikheyev/Miller, still trying to sign Horvat.

The rebuild isn't coming. It's going to be more of the same.

Which is why I’m just fed up with the franchise in general. They’re just repeating the same mistakes. As a fan I won’t support that. But again that’s not unique to Canucks fans, there’s several teams fans who are fed up with being bad.

The problem goes back to when we were one of the most dominant teams in the league for years?! That seems odd.

You forget how bad the Pacific was back then. It was an easy path to pad the numbers.

Like I said time heals all things. Remember the face of the former captain Bobby Lou sitting on the bench with his new mask he had made for the Heritage game? Happy times.

Fire AV to SCF with the Rangers.

Trade long stick Willie so he can be a major part of the SC winning LA Kings.

There was a lot of anger after the 2011 run. President Cup winners to eliminated in five playoff games but the regular season was impressive.

Difference between a 100 pt player and a 65 pt player, simple math really.
