Probably because they’re just good enough, since they were great from 2009-2012, to give the owner hope they can replicate that. The issue is 100% Francesco Aquilini, he bought the 100% of the team in their heyday beginning and he thinks that’s the norm, he has no idea what an organization has to go thru to get to a place to where you can be what they were in 2011.

That’s my opinion…

It doesn’t help that hockey people keep saying “the pieces are there, they should be better, look at those games against Colorado/Vegas…”

When he goes to Alumni that he worships and they repeat this poop can you blame him?

You would think after a decade of not getting anywhere near there again except for one blip that someone would say to him that the current path they are on can't be continued.
- manvanfan

I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors but I can almost guarantee you with 100% certainty Jim Benning didn’t tell him that, keeping his job was more important than being good at his job. Jim Rutherford was hired December 9th 2021 so I assume he’s had some of those conversations with the Aquilini’s. Let’s see what moves are made at the TDL.

Boudreau is a lame duck who won't be back to the dismay of the players, whether or not they somehow manage to get one of the coveted wild card spots.
- VanHockeyGuy

I don’t think he should be back, he can’t get the team to play well defensively.

Yes and no. They were just God awful under Benning despite spending his money to the cap limit and yet finishing near the bottom of the league for 80% of his tenure. All that losing and they have an absolutely terrible farm system, they have no prospects, how does that happen? They only have two NHL caliber players under the age of 25, again, how does that happen?

Someone mentioned they miss Shaw, there's some truth to that. He probably left due to philosophical differences than to be closer to home. I think this gig will be Boudreau's last, the game has passed him by.

I wish Arizona had a blog so me and the two other fans could discuss how they’re going to be so good when Armstrong is finished building that team from the ground up.

How bad are things in Philly when they can’t beat Arizona who barely has six NHL caliber players. It’s comical how the current Flyers organization is almost a mirror image of what’s going on in Vancouver.

It's because Snyder cares more about the Phillies and the Eagles more than he does the 76ers and Flyers.

They didn’t fire Shaw, he left. He (Shaw) had no positive effect on the Canucks defensively, so whatever. I believe Yeo is Boudreaus choice. Not that GMs or Presidents don’t have a say, but that’s the guy their HC wanted.

I know how he left.

I would say that since "systems" was what Shaw brought to the team last year and they were much better.

Yeo was agreed upon by coach and management. Should have just fired BB when he said that they should bring in Yeo.

5-6 games max. If the club can't get a few games over .500 soon I'm sure there will be talk lol

Well, I disagree that systems were better. Boudreau even got grief at the end of the season for the lack of structure the team played with. The excuse was no training camp, not enough practice during a season where they were going all out to make the playoffs.

Agree though that they should have just moved on from the in the off season if they didn’t fully believe in him.

Shaw was key to our turn around, along with getting rid of Green-Baumer dumpster fire.

Benning would have fired Green if Aquaman didn't over rule him. Green cut around Benning to save his job, the same way Benning cut around Linden for the vision of the team This is an ownership management issue - they do whatever they want and don't let the hockey management structure do what it is there to do.

The good news is Alvin is such a pylon he has nothing to add to over rule Rutherford
