A hypothetical question

4 years of Carey Price LTIR, a first for JTM? Would you?

- VANTEL

If you went hard after a rebuild, I think you could accomplish a lot in 4 years. Plus in year 5 I think OEL comes off the books.

So your proposal is:

Price & 2023 1st for Miller? Is it Montreal’s first or Florida? Protected or not?

I think it’s not quite enough given the cost of taking on Price but if that was the best offer on the table I’d do it, and then trade Horvat, Boeser, Demko (when healthy), Pettersson, Hughes. Then deal all expiring deals before the deadline in the three years following and sign tier 2/3 guys in late July to fill out the roster each season (and deal them too).

So you'd rebuild around Garland and Mikheyev and keep the D intact.

I like it. 👍

You have to have some players on the team that are the same year over year.

Garland and Mikheyev maybe get dealt in year 3 or 4. Höglander and Podkolzin either develop into better NHL players or not, but they’ll be cheap for the near term.

Realistically, none of the D under contract are going anywhere. Maybe Myers next deadline, Schenn this deadline, unless you want to make him the captain for the motley crew of a team…

Maybe you can lighten up on your criticisms of Myers now.

It's not like he's making OEL money and he'll be tradeable next season at the TDL. I feel your energies are being misguided.

Great OT win by the Coyotes over the lowly Flyers tonight, Keller with the hat-trick. Hayton hasn’t been good this year, talented kid but needs a change of scenery. Hayton for Boeser and Rathbone?

I didn’t read the whole thing, but… it is difficult to turn the puck over when you don’t have it, and that wouldn’t be reflected in turnovers/60. Did it talk about turnovers per amount of time with control of the puck? I bet that number his higher…

They have so many ads and auto play videos on that site now that my ad blocker crashes every time. After reloading the page a few times I end up just giving up. Can’t say I’ve read an entire post there in a few years.

Street hockey and football (soccer). Coach made me put on the pads one time in Novice, that was enough to know I’d never be an ice hockey goalie. 4th line energy guy or fill in # 6 d in a pinch. Not a good skater

I didn't get that deep into it TBH. I just looked that in four years you would not be begging for JTM to quit. It doesn't matter to me about whose first Fla or MTL.

In the end I just looked at it as 10 mil in cap space after juggling LTIR every year a first-round pick and dumping an eight-year contract including this year that fans already hate.
