They still allow way too many opportunities, offensively, to opposing teams. For whatever reason they just don’t play well defensively as five men units. They try to create offensively by making high risk plays which often leads to opportunities for the other team. It’s just a bad mix of players. There’s a bunch of good NHL players, they just don’t work well together.

Which goes back to relying on goaltending too much. As was said for the past two years. If they don’t get it, they’re screwed. Unless they score 5+ goals.

I think losing Shaw had a negative impact on the teams defensive structure. When you think about it, starting with Baumer, there have been 3 different assistants over the last 3 years. Not much continuity.

I know you guys don't like me knocking Hughes, but I would sure like to know what he was thinking on the horrible pass from Miller, that lead to a shorthanded goal against.
Why would a player skate within 6 feet of his teammate on a PP at the blue line.
I have been trying to back off on the criticism of this kid, but man he is brutal.
Ya, ya, look at all those assists, which are mostly 2nd assists. Hopefully he is part of the dirty laundry changing.

To me, I'm fine with any player being dealt providing the return is there. The lack of activity tells us it's not.

Not an excuse, they built a huge management team to right the ship, they haven't.

It starts with a lame duck coach who the players love.

Watched the fist period last night and went nope. Enjoyed WC soccer yesterday, and looking forward to NFL today. They're an easy team to forget about when there's quality sports alternatives.

I've watched three minutes of WC Soccer one of the Canada games I think lol I'm good now for the tourney.

Not a fan of this mentality. That is how you end up signing your players to exorbitant contracts, see JT Miller and Brock Boeser.
I believe you need to have realistic expectations on returns, not comparing a return to what some team got for what some consider a similar player.
Personally, If the team can't get an offer for Brock or Garland, then waive them, if they get claimed, so be it, if not, Abbotsford should be the destination.

For sure, stability behind the bench would be the most logical place for them to start. I don't think they even identify that as an issue, especially with some of the dipshit comments Rutherford made to the press about Boudreau.

IMHO that's not exactly feeding a stable environment and you keep that sort of shit in house.

No D, no structure, no plan. Score more goals than the opponent, that's how this team is built.

Rutherford is a yappy little Chihuahua riding the former glory days. The players and coaches have already tuned him out.

Agreed. It only adds to the wide perception of chaos and dysfunction. Not a good look for leadership.

Other than Schenn, and sometimes Lazar, you have no physicality, you have a coach that overplays his top offensive players, no matter how well or how poorly those players are playing, or how well the other players are performing.
You see the forwards take off out of defensive zone, if it looks like the defenseman might get the puck, you have defensemen being the last player back into the defensive zone, defenseman throwing the puck into the middle, in the defensive zone, forwards stand close to a check, without really checking them.
It is just a mess with a bad mix of players.
None of this is new, it has been going on for years with these same players, and now the newer players are just adding on to that problem.

Want nothing to do with this kid now …………..

Adam Fantilli has tried to model his game as a combination of MacKinnon, Bergeron and Jamie Benn.

But the Canadian world junior hopeful from just north of Toronto's favourite player all-time is Marc Savard.
