Horvat wants to be back east family, he slipped up earlier in an interview and said something along the lines of " if I were to spend my whole career on one team " . He is not gonna re- sign here .

With Bo going, it should be fun watching Miller at centre doing the heavy lifting Bo has to do on this team.

At this point I think Bruce or the next coach would take their chances with EP over Miller as shutdown center.

Between Boston, the Rangers, Islanders and Colorado we'll get a good return for Bo

So the Canucks should re-sign him to whatever he wants so that they can't afford Petey when his contract is up? Gotta bring the whole gang back to keep the results the same.
- manvanfan

That's not what I said but nice try.

I'm asking you if you'd target Bo or Miller via trade if your team required secondary scoring among other things?

How was I supposed to know you weren't relating it to the conversation you joined in on?

Multiply factors, cost of acquiring, cap hit, position, team needs, age, length of contract. If it's left or right shot. There are many many things you'd have to consider when trading for someone.

Miller would have brain cramps and forget what he was supposed to be doing.

Pretty certain they’re not trading a 1st or 2nd to treat Boeser as a dump.
- Nighthawk

They've already done it. Like I said, I'm suggesting these things based on what we've seen so far...

He also clearly said at the outset that he was looking for an American team to play on so that also factors in. Calgary was always going to be his second choice regardless of the offers Treliving put out so there's that. BH wants to stay, but the fact is, even IF we manage to dump enough cap to sign him, that still leaves EP40 no money next year to sign and he's going to want a MASSIVE contract that's bigger than both Bo AND Miller combined and deserves it based on his play.
- DariusKnight

lol slight exaggeration there. I could see him asking for somewhere around JG money.

Show me how that means back east and family. He didnt slip that up... you are making that up. He could very well want to go to a contender or at least a team moving in the right direction. We really don't know. You are conclusion jumping....

He's good at heavy lifting. You have to be to throw team mates under the bus.

Bo on the other hand throws the bus under his team mates...

Based on how management clung to play off hopes last season and kept Miller at the TDL then in the summer because they thought with a healthy Poolman, this team has a shot so they signed Miller.... I could see them signing Bo because the play offs are in reach. After trading a 1st or hopefully only a 2nd to get rid of Boeser's contract to make room for the contract of course.

I'm not going out of my way to make that look bad... it's on course with what they've done so far. This team looks like they'll hang around that bottom seed and we know how they feel about that based on last TDL and the summer.

- boonerbuck

That would be absolute worst case scenario but I don't see management eating that much crow after just signing him. I cringe at the thought of that.

Horvats a center. Miller is a winger. This is an argument that management can't win. They won't get it cheaper... Horvat left money on the table last time and now he has to put up with being low balled and not being shown he's worth a lot more than Boeser. They made this mess when they signed miller and Boeser in the summer.
- boonerbuck

Horvat also hasn't had near the level of production that JTM has over the last 3 years. not even close.

(frank) ya... Petey is better defensively than Bo even to be honest. The fastest I see Petey skate is when he's cleaning up other people's mistakes and his positioning is like he can see the future. He makes so few mistakes himself but he usually recovers. Also, sometimes he looks like he's out there with a shop vac the way his stick sucks up pucks for the take aways.

That all goes without saying when finding a trade partner. That alone is why it’s so hard to trade in a dead market with teams capped out & a few teams with a ton of space that they weaponize.

True but points are not the only factor on my valuation. Bo is a legit top 6 C & less prone to giveaways.

Plus minus wise JTM has been better his whole career

Yeah, I've liked his two-way game outside of that two game stretch against WAS/FLA. You'd need to find a decent 3rd forward that can play against top lines to play alongside him and Mikheyev.

This team is going to be a mess down the middle when Horvat gets dealt, but that's just something the team has to prepared to accept.

JTM earned his deal with his play here. Bo will get what he has earned. As we all know it comes to what both sides can decide is fair.

Bo’s camp knows this & why he’ll get paid. Also top 6 C’s are very hard to get via trade or UFA. They along with top 4 RHD always in demand.
