* won't go to ALS
- Zezel

Unless you buy it on Wed and it's the Retro Reverse apparently.

But the article says jersey and the tweet says patch.....me thinks the ariticle is likely incorrect and it's just the patches that they are donating the $ to ALS.

It is

Regardless of what we though about Murray most leaf fans were in agreement Murray contract over Jcs contract

- Santo_44

Yeah, I was like most Leafs fans in that I wished him well, hoped he would do well, but didn't think he had the mental makeup to be a regular NHL goalie.

But frank, I didn't think he would poop the bed this bad.

.875 sv% - 70th best in the league.

4.04 GAA - 71st best in the league.

Those aren't good enough to be backup numbers.

And he's still got another four years after this year - at $5M per pop.

They have to buy him out.

I for one was pumped about Murray and Samsonov. I'm not usually right, but I'm right now.
- gravyface

I personally think at it's worst, it would be a wash with getting Samsonov. He was/is as good as all the other young goalies that moved around last year. At it's best, it will be a sweet coup by Dubas and co but we have 60ish games left to find out.

According to the Star, tomorrow night the Leafs will be wearing their reverse retros - and those jerseys (after the game, of course) will be auctioned off, with all money going to ALS Action Canada.

And the patches are $20.

From last blog-

Of course the Wings are the underdog... To say the Wings are "not a good team" is premature at this point in the season. Despite being in a rebuild they're sitting in a playoff spot right now. Yzerman has made a ton of good changes after cleaning up the dumpster fire that Ken Holland left us. The Wings are a team on the rise...

The Red Wings are so funny. They're really bad, but have somehow won all these games, so they think they're good and deserving but now that they're getting destroyed they're getting extremely pissy about every single call. Lovely to watch when you're the infinitely better team

Appears Wed is the day to buy a Retro Reverse Jersey....

From article I have linked below:

The Toronto Maple Leafs will donate all proceeds from sales of their reverse retro sweater on Wednesday to ALS Action Canada in honour of legendary defenceman Borje Salming.

- Cush29

I stand corrected, good move by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

First year of a 5 year deal. We've seen goalies bounce back. Maybe he doesn't have the mental fortitude to do so but I'd be shocked if they bought him out this off season.

I was thinking about buying that Retro jersey because it is pretty chocolatey. But it'd be cheaper to just make a donation to ALS and I wouldn't have more Leafs stuff taking up space for no reason.

Fake

I think we can all agree he was decent last season.

But he isn't helping much anymore.

I will harken thee back, young Santo, to a time this summer when EVERYONE made fun of Kyle Dubas for the acquisition of Matt Murray. There wasn't a news pundit out there that didn't put the Leafs' goaltending last after they picked up Murray and Samsonov - and most of them credited the acquisition of Samsonov as a good move - which says a lot about the general opinion of Matt Murray.

I can't think of a single NHL executive who had positive things to say about Murray. But then I did think of the Athletic ranking of the goalie tiers, and this is what was posted:

https://theathletic.com/2...es-rates-all-32-starters/ -- I know you subscribe, so you can find that. It took me 10 f'n minutes to find it. Protip: don't use The Athletic search engine, it blows. I Googled it with the words Theathletic in front, and found it that way.

Anyway, Murray is ranked 29th in a poll of NHL executives, scouts, goalie coaches, and so on - and most of them had him falling. I can't imagine ANYONE wanting to pay him $4.7m without a much bigger payday than a 3rd and a 7th being the offset.

Bottom line - I am - without any proof or knowledge otherwise - all but positive that there was no competition for acquisition of Matt Murray's overpaid services.

- Monkeypunk

So Athletic polls of executives, scouts and other hangers on don’t makes deals. One buyer and one seller make a deal. The seller had made it clear that he would only retain 25%. That was known through the failed Buffalo trade. So the cap portion of the deal was probably set. So, what did Dubas miss out on? A 3rd and a 5th? A 2nd? Dorion was shopping last summer. Was he going to give up much more? We don’t know. Dubas got the goalie he wanted, that he believed would be performing the way he is right now, plus a good pick.

And excuse me if I don’t take these experts too seriously. I’ve been hearing since the summer that Dubas, that Dorion was the big winner of the summer and that the Oilers are a SC because they got Campbell

There are seasons when nothing goes right for some players.

He seems like a prime candidate for a change where he could bounce back. Too bad the Leafs aren't selling him at this highest value but the cap space it could give them would be worth it on it's own.

I am guilty of this - my wife likes to remind me every once in awhile of it. I have a nice stop in the garage where I have stashed away jerseys and Leafs stuff that she rarely sees. lol

I've tired to keep it under control, sold some jerseys a couple years ago including a signed Vesa Toskala (won it in a silent charity auction), a Kessel jersey and a "Monster" jersey. Now to replace them......

I still have a really nice Andersen Toronto Arenas that I guess I need to either wait for a big time goalie to come sign in Toronto and switch to $31 or maybe just get the name plate swapped out to a Cujo or something.

Hell I have a couple Reimer Jerseys I can get swapped out for Matthews while I'm at it - just need to keep one as I still want to get it autographed by Reims one day.

Oh snap - I just clued in that I could get my #31 Andersen swapped out for any of these guys:

Cujo
Wregget
Fuhr

Or for a lark - Sparks or Pavel Kubina! lol

I actually always liked the Red Wings because I used to always use them when playing the greatest hockey video game known to history, Sega Genesis NHLPA 1992. But currently they are a middling team destined to finish 9th in the East and clearly vastly inferior to the Maple Leafs in every way.

I always love the guys who show up to Leafs games in badly outdated Leafs jerseys.

And I'm not talking your Wendel or Dougie or Mats - I mean the guy wearing the 3rd line winger who played two seasons for us in the late 90s' jersey.

It would greatly reduce the resell value!!!!!

His QS% is currently at 33% which is pretty horrendous. I wonder how the Oilers fanbase felt with that signing? Was there large amounts of skepticism?

I’ve only purchased one authentic jersey in my time. Way back in the eighties there was a player with my last name. Now I buy Chinese knock-offs.

Borje patch (but not sweaters it seems) being sold. Game worn jerseys for tomorrow’s game will be auctioned. All proceeds to go to ALS charity

Love that the Patch is being sold but very disappointed that as of right now I can't get a sweater with it.

Kerfoot is just one of a bunch of guys that haven’t really done much on the left side on the top six. Now that Bunting is playing better, there’s only one real gap there. They can throw Jarnrok in there and play Kerfoot on the third without a real difference. Kerfoot is fine as just another guy on the 3rd line but not worth the money. He hasn’t been terrible.

I think he has considering how many glorious chances he has had this year, he has been gifted some chances by the elite players on this team.

He has no excuse for such low goal totals this season. He has had 2 penalty shots ffs.

The chances have gone into the hands of Jarnkrok and you can see the difference it makes when a slightly better scorer gets those chances.
