Like most players on our team Bailey is a streaky player and Lambert is hoping he’ll go on one. If he benches him there’s no chance of that happening. Some would say there’s no chance of that happening whether he benches him or not
- Cptmjl

Most of Bailey's streaks are on the top PP unit as a secondary assist guy.

Was thinking of driving down to Philly to see the game since its on ESPN+, but I'm not driving almost 3 hours to watch that p*ssy Holmstrom in the lineup
- Vukota

You can get insane tickets for $55 each total. Gametime ap... I was thinking about it.

And that's the point. Whether Bailey plays or Ross plays, the chances of winning are about the same..........unless Bailey goes on one of Cpt's hot streaks. I would rather have Ross play and deal with the Philly BS than Martin have to do it without much help. Lee is too valuable to keep dropping the gloves.
- JohnScammo

Amen.. if Lee or Martin breaks their hand punching a helmet it is a very bad loss. If Ross does it's not a big deal.

I don't understand why some of you have your panties in a bunch over a frustrated deslauries taking advantage of a situation where he may have thought his teammate got hit a little high by Romanov. I will admit I was out of town that night and didn't see the entire game, but the hit and the aftermath weren't that big of a deal in my opinion. I thought the deangelo on Wahlstrom was garbage though. I doubt Lane plays Ross tonight. Doesn't seem warranted to me. Now if Deslauries did what wilson did to Panarin to Barzal, then I'd be all for it.

1 pt and a -1 is a zero sum game....thats literally zero output. Im not a bailey fan, but once in a while the kid does come up big.
When did Matt Martin lose the heavy title on the team?

- kindlyrick

He's not exactly a kid anymore and as I have said before he certainly has some elite offensive talent that shows up once in a while.. but his lack of a brain in the D-zone makes hiim more of a liability each shift than a positive impact. (He's also a Pssy.. but he at least gets involved in scrums for the sake of the team).

The hit was a nothing hit that wasn't high or dangerous in the least. Deslaurier literally jumped Romanov. A lot of people pointing out Holmstrom's age... Romanov is 22.

Sorry, didn't think it was a big deal. We'll see if Lane agrees tonight with the lineup

He has played 4 games this year... pretty sure Martin was in every one of those games. Martin is not a goon.. that is where we differ in opinion. He plays a ton of minutes for a 4th line. He hits, cycles, chips in a few points and sets tone. He doesn't just go out there to fight... Johnston is more the Reaves type.. He will play less than 10 minutes and is out there to police the other team.
- niteislander

In the new age NHL the "goon" is becoming extinct. You mentioned Reaves, who's now on his 3rd team in 2 years. Im kinda done with this convo, as you can see it your way, and i'll see it mine. We can agree to disagree. Regarding Simon Holmstrom, here's a coupla quotes:

“His intelligence. I think he’s got a real innate ability to read things, whether it be body positioning, stick positioning, how to engage in battles in order to win the puck, and I’ve really enjoyed watching, seeing that,” Lambert said.

“Well, I think we’re seeing just more of what we’re seeing now,” Lambert said. “And again, I know I keep saying, and I sound like a broken record, but his intelligence, it’s high, and he’s putting himself in the right position to not only make plays offensively, but makes plays defensively, was what we were seeing [in Bridgeport]. And I think we’re seeing more of that here.”

“His hockey sense. [He’s] supporting the puck, moves well, strong on the puck, and [plays] a reliable 200-foot game. That’s my first impression watching him up there. [I’m] so happy he got the opportunity, and hopefully, he continues to build and help the Islanders.”

Apparently, he's gotten the attention of the coaching staff regardless of what you are I think.

Twist was a beast. Spittin Chicklets just had on Jody Shelley telling his story of fighting Probert 4 times in as many periods. Amazing to see a heavy talk about how scared he was.
- kindlyrick

It's funny if you look back at any interviews with those guys they all talk about how if you aren't scared before a fight you are full of shat I forget the one player who said that he couldn't even enjoy going out to a movie the night before a game because all he was worried about was fighting so and so the next night

Yeah pre internet......we would rush to the school library to read the newsdays islander article.

I dont know why they can't just go back to the old school jerseys. The original white for home, and blue for away games.......bring them back already. They were the best uni's
