Seriously!?!

I’m not disagreeing that he lacks truculence. I’m only pointing out his youth and inexperience.

So far as the AHL goes, it’s a pro league, yeah. But he’s barely even played a full two seasons thanks to the pandemic.

Again, give him time. He might grow a backbone, or he may not. Personally, I’d rather see him pot a brace of goals on Tuesday, rather than attempt to dummy up some Flyer who should be in Lehigh.

Against Ottawa Ross replaced Bailey, and somehow the Isles managed a W without Bailey's offensive output.

Like most players on our team Bailey is a streaky player and Lambert is hoping he’ll go on one. If he benches him there’s no chance of that happening. Some would say there’s no chance of that happening whether he benches him or not

No doubt. Get the two points but just get them with the Boss in the lineup

Was thinking of driving down to Philly to see the game since its on ESPN+, but I'm not driving almost 3 hours to watch that p*ssy Holmstrom in the lineup

Do you have to pay the full ESPN price (yearly NHL subscription) to watch that one game?

Bailey was benched for whatever reason. Ross has 1 pt and is a -1. He's not winning games for the isles. He's got one job....to play a physical game. The isles have the best defense they've had in 20+ years, and the best goaltending tandem since the 80s. They roll four lines who ALL contribute. They didnt win cause Ross Johnston was in the lineup
- kindlyrick

And that's the point. Whether Bailey plays or Ross plays, the chances of winning are about the same..........unless Bailey goes on one of Cpt's hot streaks. I would rather have Ross play and deal with the Philly BS than Martin have to do it without much help. Lee is too valuable to keep dropping the gloves.

1 pt and a -1 is a zero sum game....thats literally zero output. Im not a bailey fan, but once in a while the kid does come up big.
When did Matt Martin lose the heavy title on the team?

When he failed to take on Tom Wilson after Wilson ended the NHL career of Vizniewski (sp?) in the playoffs? (He left that job to Lee who was totally overmatched.). Maybe it was a few years before that when he got dropped with one punch by Tanner Glass? I am a fan of Martin, but that doesn't mean I want to see him risking injury by taking on a guy like Deslauriers.

Even Probie lost a couple. Clearly the organization still feels he’s the guy. None of us know if he was hurt or whatnot, but the guys been a solid islander for many years…and I don’t recall him ever turning down a tilly. Let’s also not pretend Deslauriers came in from the 80s.

Twist was a beast. Spittin Chicklets just had on Jody Shelley telling his story of fighting Probert 4 times in as many periods. Amazing to see a heavy talk about how scared he was.

I mean Nite is not wrong you can't just stand there when that happens to a teammate but at the same time he is a kid who probably weighs 160 pounds and looks like he is 12. What are you really expecting him to do? If he jumped in and got his jaw busted then what? He'll learn when to get involved and when not to. Leave the kid alone
- Vukota

He is 6'2" and weighs over 200 LBS. He is not small.. he is just a pssy. He also played in Swedish elite league which is adults before B=port. He has been playing with MEN for 4 or 5 years. Nelson while he doesn't fight... is always in the mix during a scrum. Can this be addressed with him and fixed.. maybe.. but to me it's a big enough issue that I would sit him tonight.

It wasn't just one incident to me... He always seems to shy away from contact. he had a golden opportunity in the Columbus game to score if he continued to the net and he shied away from going to crease. He doesn't go into the corners. He doesn't take a hit to make a pass or play. He looks scared to death out there..

I would rather him be a wuss and play as well as he has as a fill in then be a brute and be directly responsible for goals against. Sure, you want to see players stick up for each other out there. I get it. But he just needs to keep doing what he has been doing to A. Stay in the lineup and B. Eventually challenge for a spot. I would assume the kid knows that. I can say with complete confidence that Lambert isn’t benching him for his wussiness.

He's literally on the roster to replace the tough guy if the tough guy gets hurt
- kindlyrick

He has played 4 games this year... pretty sure Martin was in every one of those games. Martin is not a goon.. that is where we differ in opinion. He plays a ton of minutes for a 4th line. He hits, cycles, chips in a few points and sets tone. He doesn't just go out there to fight... Johnston is more the Reaves type.. He will play less than 10 minutes and is out there to police the other team.

Gretzky was the biggest wussy of all time then I mean he had guys on his line to fight his fights
- Upstate_isles

1. we aren't comparing Holmstrom to Gretzky are we? really?
2. Wayne always had a tough guy on his line (Tikkanen, Messier) ... so did Bossy (Gillies)... so did mario (Stevens) .. so did McDavid (lucic).. . In fact they signed Lucic b/c McDavid was getting killed every game.

We agree on something.. 2 points against a team that is reeling is first priority. that said I would not mind seeing Ross in the lineup tonight.

Tony D was not on the ice for practice apparently.
