See I think Trocheck was a somewhat bad signing. Not because he's not a good player, but Strome took less money and term and has had about the same offensive production as Trocheck over the 3 seasons prior to this one, with both of them playing on good offensive teams.
There's more to it than just that obviously, but I don't think Trocheck is worth the extra $14.375M and a contract that is two years longer - eichiefs9
That’s a very fair argument. |

I don't know if there's been "talk" of it, but these were the lines at practice today:
Andrew Gross @AGrossNewsday
2h
#Isles at practice
Bailey-Barzal-Wahlstrom
Lee-Nelson-Beauvillier
Parise-Pageau-Holmstrom
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck
Aho-Dobson'
Pelech-Pulock
Romanov-Mayfield
Sorokin and Varlamov the goalies
Salo and Johnston the extras
For all we know it could be some gamesmanship on Lambert's part to see if Torts sits Deslauriers tomorrow now - eichiefs9
Holmstrom should be in the press box. The scrum where the Flyers cross checked Parise into their net numerous times while JGP went in there and was getting jumped by whole team as Simon shied away from getting involved at all was a really bad look for a kid trying to make a roster spot.

I don't think Holmstrom needs to be out there in his 3rd NHL game trying to mix it up with some pretty tough seasoned vets. That's not what he was drafted to do and isn't going to benefit him in any way.
I had my own game Saturday night and only got to watch the highlights after the fact, but I've actually been pleasantly surprised with his game that I've seen so far given the circumstances. He won't stick when Palmieri is healthy but he looks a lot better than I expected. |

Holemstrom shouldn't come out until Palmieri is back and Ross has no use on this team unless he's Martin's replacement and since thats not likely they should waive him. I like Ross but he doesn't have a role on this team |

I don't think Trocheck is bad but if Strome was willing to take 5x5 in another high-tax state then I don't see why he wouldn't have taken it to stay with the Rangers. They're pretty similar players and I don't see Trocheck as significantly more valuable than Strome. Definitely not $14M+ more valuable. |

They have done it a few times this year. They don't break up that 4th line. They are playing a lot of minutes and are a solid unit that can go with anyone and do their thing... If Johnston plays it will be on 3rd line is my guess with JGP and Parise. - niteislander
Who was injured or sat for Johnston to be inserted. They’re not just dressing him for a Bailey who, like him or not, puts up pts. |

If they want to throw Johnston in to deal with Deslauriers tomorrow I'm fine with that. But, short of situations like this, I absolutely agree with you on RJ. |

Holmstrom should fight about as much as barzal, some guys aren't that type of player and that's fine. All he needs to do is hug someone and hold him there and maybe a face wash |

I’m with you…..Holmstrom has really taken the next step. His size, speed, reach, mixed with his protection of the puck along the boards have all been excellent. He’s really learned the N American game. I think he’s a unexpected blue chip |

I'm not sure he'll ever pan out as a high-end scorer in this league, but a solid middle six forward wouldn't be a bad consolation prize. Still a long road ahead for him but I'm not disappointed with what I've seen in a very small sample so far.
I'd still like to see him score more in the AHL, it's somewhat baffling to me how he looks solid at this level but doesn't seem to dominate in Bridgeport. |

Performing on the big stage is what ups his value….if nothing else the more he opens eyes and looks like he belongs in the NHL, the more he could be part of a trade. His hockey smarts are what have impressed me most. He breaks up passes with that reach and has played a very sound game. No complaints. |

Maybe he fits a 3rd line role in the future but he's at least a viable option going forward. I think raty is the guy that's going to be a top 6 and possibly 3 guy in the future |

Having good prospects is never a bad thing. Gives Lou the assets to add at the deadline to push for a cup |

You can't have the smallest guy on your team in the middle of 5 flyers mixing it up while Holmstrom looked like he was scared to death. 3rd NHL game or not.. you have to at the very least engage and pull some people off him and help Parise get out of the net he was just cross checked into numerous times.
Holmstrom looks like a wuss to me.

I never said anything about fighting.... Barzal is always in there when there is a scrum. there is a difference.... Holmstrom looks afraid of contact, doesn't go into corners, doesn't persue puck in front of the net.

Im not really sure what you're suggesting, other than adding more toughness to an already tough team, whilst removing scoring to add Martin 2.0. Holmstrom has really worked well on that third line, and unless Martin gets hurt, i dont see the need for Ross the boss, with 6 guys already who can chuck em |

I am suggesting adding Ross to beat the fck out of Deslaurier .. for this game. Not their careeer... I am also suggesting that Simon is a Pssy.
