I think cozens takes a team friendly deal.
Any concerns for you with cozens making more than tage?
Langokov always made more $ then MacKinnon correct? - Boss34
The NFL players generally encourage and support players league wide and in their own locker room to get as much money as they can, even if it's more than themselves.
Curious if the NHL players have a similar vibe/outlook. |

Is Tage really a comparable when he almost 5 years older than Cozens? - kingcong39
On the outskirts, I'll admit, but a bit. Tage's deal will buy more UFA years, so in that sense he'd be on the high end, but Tage is unusual.

how many second line centers are making north of 8 mil per?
tavares
point
draisaitl - homiedclown
If your 2nd line Center is putting up 70 points without much prime power play time, while playing stronger defense, does that make him even more valuable? |

If Tage wasn't a Sabre, would we be looking at his deal as much as a comparable? |

Mark Giordano 800k
Corey Perry 1 mil
Patrick Maroon 1mil
Patrice Bergeron 2.5 mil
David Krejci 1 mil
seems the vets are taking less to keep the teams together
doubt this is the case though for players in their 20's

If any team had a similar vibe, it's the buffalo sabres.
All vibes , few wins.

I do not put him near the list of the 3 players I mentioned above
Anthony Cirelli was the comparison before this year, and he got 6.25 mil per on his deal
my guess is 7 to 7.5 is the sweet spot on a long term deal for cozens assuming he ends up around 60 points this season |

Depends how deep you want to look. Probably makes the top 10. If you're KA, it's high on the list. If you're Tage's agent, it doesn't make the list. |

How does he rank in the league.
I believe the context was at 5v5 as well. - IonSabres
Never mind, I'll do it as I know it doesn't fit the narrative supported by the Nay-sayers.
At 5v5, UPL has a High Danger Save Percentage of .898 good for 42nd of 75 reported. His overall 5v5 SV% of .919 is 35th. Not all bad ... in fact pretty average or technically just below...marginally.
PK is a totally different situation, and it is bad, real bad...SV% light years behind both Anderson and Comrie. He needs to improve there...and it is interesting to note on PK;
-Anderson faced 14 HDC's in 10 games (1.4 / gm) (65 total shots = 6.5 / gm).
-Comrie faced 20 in 11 games (1.82 / gm) (43 total shots = 3.9 / gm)
-UPL faced 14 in 4 games (3.5 / gm) (29 total shots = 7.25 / gm)
The team collectively plays far worse on the PK in front of UPL in a small sample size giving up 2.0 -> 3.5 X HDSC's per game. I'd say the team and UPL have some work to do there. |

I think that's where everyone is, even if he has a case for a bit more.

Do the Sabres hold back some of cozens pp time and some opportunities late in the season?
Maybe sandbag him a bit.
Put olo back on pp1 to keep the numbers down a bit?
Keep him around 60 points, not 70? |

Cirelli's high point of production so far is 19 goals and 44 points.
Cozens could very well end up crushing those numbers. |

Well if he likes it here, he takes a deal in the 7 or 8yr 7.5-8m. If he bets on himself takes a 3yr 6m deal and explodes. He has Adams bent over without any of Stanks Synergy jelly to sooth what is about to happen. |

You're not seriously questioning the validity of the question, are you? You're talking about the cheapest team in the league. I'm not convinced Dahlin is here long term until I see the contract details. |

There's a limit on how much a 2C can explode. Think that makes a long term deal more likely here.

It's the buffalo Sabres.
Would tanking (a player or season) really suprise you?
Smart teams would make sure to see enough for an eternal contract, but ..... maybe not overuse cozens.
Trade deadline, I fully expect olo on pp1 if he's being shopped. |

All three are cup contenders too.
Tage/Cozens is a legitimate 1-2 punch and the Sabres are one of the highest scoring teams in the league because of those two players.

Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were two of the top 5 players in the entire world at one point despite playing on the same team.
Backstrom and Kuznetsov on the Caps cup winning team.
Mackinnon and Kadri on the Avs last year.
Nico Hischier’s production isn’t suffering with Jack Hughes emergence as the 1C in New Jersey |
