An RD RHD under team control does not make the search that much easier.

It would likely be a team with a surplus of RD RHD, like the Kings, and for teams like that, why would they willingly trade one of their 2 best RD RHD without asking a lot in return?

That means you're likely looking for a prospect RD RHD, which doesn't help the roster much for another season or two, and you hope will help them from that point forward.

The Sabres not picking an RD RHD with their 2nd round pick last season is a glaring miss.

Hank, I'd absolutely make the trade you proposed.

Yes, it's a lot, but at this point we have the prospects at forward to absorb the trade of a first round pick.

Moving out Casey gives us a chance to see Krebs at 3c and if it doesn't work, Savoie or Kulich in the next year or two.

Bryson can be replaced by Pilut or even Clague at this point.

Top 4 D would be insane, Joker and Boosh on the 3rd pair.

Use the 3 2nd rounders we have this year to restock D pipeline.

Bad thing is there is probably 1 D Cam Allen even worth a top 15 pick in the 2023 Draft.

Feels like they have way too much confidence in Bryson and Fitz. Wouldn't you still want depth behind them? Don't you want a prospect in Roch?

Well the way there going we won't see 1/2 of them cause they will still be evaluating Mitts and Olofsson

I think the short term goals should be to

1. improve the 3rd line of casey, olofsson and vinny

figure out if krebs fits in that slot or not

we have seen enough of casey and olofsson IMO and it's fare to say they are not long term fixtures if the goal is to be good

2. upgrade the slot joker plays

if that means drop joker to 3rd pr fine, if it means ship him out, also fine

3, figure out if 6k is in long term plans, and that only comes with nhl games

4. get johnson, levi and portillo signed in the spring

5, do everything possible to let cozens, peterka and quinn grow as a line

6. work on special teams
