19-4-2 All time record against Buffalo.

Only has a losing record to 3 teams. Bruins Rangers and Ducks.

- DirtyDan

He only had 2 losing seasons both with Ott(half col) which i was very surprised with.

Hopefully we finish him off this time. We had him in our grasp earlier this month.

Agree on Chik-fil-A.
Disagree on Savoie...that kid is going to be a stud.

- IonSabres

Horvat has 17 goals and 24 points in 22 games so far this season. Maybe Savoie will be a stud, bit he's in the WHL now and the AHL next season. Horvat is a stud now, im his prime, at exactly the age and position we need.

We all think we know what a player can do... and then they get to Buffalo

Savoie will not be in the AHL next season. He cannot be due to his age.

I'm not saying don't get Horvat, just no to Savoie and a select few others as being the trade bait to do so.

Horvat is having an exceptional season this far...at 1.10 ppg pace, it is about 25-30% higher than his average over the past 6 or 7 seasons of producing ~0.75 ppg.

You are buying at an absolute high for him. He is normally a slightly less Sam Reinhart production wise.

I'd want to keep my best Prospect or 2 and still get him.

This is the old, I want a good player but don’t want to give up what it takes to get the good player.

Per Andrew Peters.

I was told Arizona and Buffalo had “High level trade talks” at the draft.

Chychrun’s name obviously came up.⬇️

Exactly
And it’s all mirrored
There’s MANY defensemen who suck on their offhand side- Chychrun for instance

It’s not even remotely close to being a situation where “we don’t need Samuelsson to shoot”

And yeah, i played hockey for quite a while
Did u play?

- jdfitz77

yes I played

your hand comparison is dumb, it's all about what side you shoot on

Thats part of the issue for sure

I think the truth is that Dorsey is absolutely a competent OC but not maybe the leagues best like Daboll probably was, but the Bills don’t have the talent to compensate for the difference

- sbroads24

it's weird looking at the numbers

last year josh was 6.8 yards per pass and the team was 4.8 yards per run
69 big plays which is 20 plus yards

this season josh is 7.7 per pass and the team is 5.3 yards per run
this season already 54 big plays

I think a good chunk of it is the turnovers and josh being banged up

at least I hope

But its not just buffalo think of all the young guys around the league who never got good Arizona being a lazy example. How long did we bang the upl drum and now its the levi drum. We need real NHL players. We have a lot of guys become good but good wont be a playoff caliber team we need stars. Horvat would fit that bill and i personally dont like him since jrs. I saw him play a few times and was underwhelming every time.

Made a bet on a 100 count Matty Beniers rookie and Owen Power rookie. Here's to hoping. Bought the Tage rookie breakout last year. Definitely a good bet.

With the advent of eBay, the card hobby has become really accessible. I have a longterm goal of having every Sabre rookie card together for this core when they play their first SC game.

So far Tage, Dahlin, Cozens and now Power are the only 4 Ive bought assuming they'll be on the team.

This

Savoie is still a prospect. He's got a ton of potential. So does/did Krebs.

What's the actual hit rate on furst round picks becoming top line players? Less than 50% id say

havent looked but is hockey more affordable than other sports? Like Josh Allen rookies are super expensive from what i heard. With my son hes into pokemon so been on that train for the last 5-6 months

Crowder did next to nothing when he played here. Name will be quickly forgotten.
- Lunaion

Yeah, crowder got hurt. Forgettable for sure.

Doesnt mean they weren't/are similar players

The stats are very comparable

I think the size has a ton to do with it as well. Hes very small in comparison where i know he went first but slaf even if hes a bust hes still got the size for a bottom 6 Kinda like gus. Savoie is either top 6 or out of hockey

It took a Prospect and a draft pick to get Reinhart.
Jez Horvat is playing well but let's not confuse him with McDavid.

Are you trading Tuch for the type of return you think the Sabres should offer for Horvat?

Oh yeah, middle class people can afford nice hockey cards.

My nephew's main Christmas gift from me this year is a hobby box of Upper Deck hockey cards. About $100 for 24 packs of 8 cards.

As far as great players:
I bought low circulation Tage rookie card last year for $75, and this included PSA grading (which can cost 15 a card)
I bought the Owen Power rookie for $100. It's called population count 100 because Upper Deck is only making 100 of them. If he's a Norris trophy defenseman someday that becomes maybe a $500 - 750 card. If the Sabres win a cup with him maybe a $1000.
Dylan Cozens rookie can be bought for $10. Less if you were to go to a shop Id imagine.
Dahlin rookie can still be bought, graded in a PSA or Beckett case, for about $100.

A Jack Eichel rookie can go for under $250 still i think.

Connor McDavid rookies fetch as much as 10,000 for the right card.

Sounds about right, like i thought with all the studs in next draft maybe start collecting again next year but if a box of cards is 1000 bucks may be tough to swallow.

I take back that price on McDavid. I'm seeing 2,000 for very nice McDavid rookies. Still a nice price but nothing like 10
