But did either of the coaches above who had a low playoffs winning % ( or no playoff %) in their first three years also have a team with a really high reg season winning% for those same years?
I dont believe most of them were gifted teams with as much talent as the team keefe was gifted

- Fakepartofme

Certainly some of them were - Boudreau, Cooper, Cassidy, Brind'Amour, Evason - and it took them a couple of years to gain some traction and have some success. I mean while Trotz' Predators took a few years to build up, when he got them there to a perennial .600% team, they still never advanced past the first round.

I predict Matthews' goal in the previous game broke the seal on a snipe-crazy rampage

Have you not watched the last month? Keefe has been coaching a team with a bunch of scrubs on defence, often with a fourth string goalie in net and running up a pretty good record
- Canada Cup

All it took for the Leafs forwards to care more about playing defensive hockey was to have the 3 highest paid D-men out long term.

Hope they keep it up once the D is healthy.

I think he has a better second half for sure.
He had 20 goals in 27 games prior to the holiday break last year and finished with 60.
I doubt he makes that number but I think he still gets 40 goals.
He's got 10 in 23 games as of now.

So, Duhtroit ce soir. Should be fun watching the Leafs kick the piss out of that clown crew.
- Zezel

Let's play the game first and see what happens. Given the Wings are in the middle of rebuild and only 5 points behind the Leafs who've also played 3 more games than Detroit... you may want to actually think before you start talking out of your a$$. Now I know why people can't stand Leafs fans.

Dude, he says that before every game, against every team. It's a bit.

Umm and only won 9 games in its first 25
- Santo_44

So what.
The team was talented, just stopped listening to the coach for reasons we've all discussed at length. He was gifted a very talented team that underperformed due to a Richard coach

I was surprised to see him not fan that shot. Kidding aside, I hope you're right!
- fifty__missions

Fanning . . . shooting high / shooting wide - he just hasn't been himself. I don't have the breakdown of his shot types or shot selections, but just looking at the last 3 years, he is missing or having more shots blocked this year.

52.8% of his shot attempts this year are getting to the net. Last year it was 57.8%, and the year prior it was 63.1%.

It's not that he's not getting into HD position, because he's actually rating more HD shots this year than last. I think he just has to "get into the zone".

I don’t expect a monster number this year either. His % will go up and the PP will improve but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Mitch split continue, partly for defensive reasons. He said at the start he’s less worried about his own numbers (everyone says that) but he could have vetoed the split if he really wanted. He’s hitting, blocking shots, playing solid D, the goals will come.

They sucked for 25 games and Keefe came in and turned them into a top team right away

You can say so what, I say thats a sign of a very good coach

And he has consistently brought his teams out of funks every year, his record is well earned

Ah... okay. Well I guess if it makes him feel good then carry on. Doesn't exactly make a good first impression though.

Only 5 points behind is 20 points pro rated over a full season

Detroit is not a good team, Leafs should beat them especially with how they are playing

never heard of her
Google time I guess.

... ok, lots to unpack there. I guess the problem I have with what sounds like some pretty serious mental illness is that it makes me question her perspective on what happened. I am not sure anyone is ever going to get the whole actual story. I feel bad for her of course.

Apologies if I have offended anyone with that take.

- Aetherial

Someone in my wife's family has serious mental health issues, and I can't tell you how much time and grief it costs us every month.

So I had the same take as you.

I'm not saying she's wrong, I'm not saying she is right, but I do find it odd that so many are jumping on twitter to say that they support her 100%, and that the Canucks are a horrible organization.

I also find it odd that the entire legal note keeps referring to misogyny and sexual discrimination, yet it also paints her entire conflict as being with another woman. Actually, I don't find it odd - I find it purposely misleading.

Of course the Wings are the underdog... To say the Wings are "not a good team" is premature at this point in the season. Despite being in a rebuild they're sitting in a playoff spot right now. Yzerman has made a ton of good changes after cleaning up the dumpster fire that Ken Holland left us. The Wings are a team on the rise...

Anything less than a Stanley Cup for Toronto this year is going to be an epic failure.

That I'd agree with - but when you go to HR to file a complaint against the AGM, who is your boss, on what could theoretically be considered thin ice to begin with, there may be problems beyond the personal that aren't going to be rectified.

I've seen this happen with people I know - not THIS - but cases where both the manager and the employee go to HR about one another. It may not be right or fair, but I've never seen a case where there isn't a clear violation of the code of conduct by one party where HR took the side of the person lower in the organization - and I think I've seen one case where the two managed to hash it out and work together - although at arm's distance - but in most cases where termination didn't occur, the worker had to move in the organization to a different group. I've seen this in IT, Telecommunications, Accounting, Government . . . it's the same all over.

Maybe complaints like this by Rachel Doerrie can change some of that, but I sincerely doubt it. In fact in small circle organizations - like a sports team - I would imagine even less flexibility to allow for personal conflicts.

That all said, I go back to my original comment which was that this is my initial take on it - I don't know enough, and I'm not really set on any opinion about it right now.

This is something I've learned as I've gotten older - I don't have to form an opinion.

It's OK to just be interested in the story, and see where it lands.

These days it's appropriate to form an opinion without knowing the facts and never change it for anything, not even when new information comes to light.
