What about the Phantoms coaches? Did Hextall allow the coach to hire his assistants? Or did Hextall do that for him? - furio16
I wasn't there, I don't know.
I don't think Gordon was a bad AHL coach and Lappy has stayed on since. Not sure what the other coaches are doing now.
Edit: and for the record, my comment was more about Hakstol. The ongoing Hextall arguments bore me. He's been gone 4 years. To me, bashing Hextall just takes some of the heat of Fletcher. |

You care to explain HextallS plan? What was getting his team out of the playoff bubble? Ol Frosty, maybe Rubstov? All his good picks were already playing and it didn’t change a thing. Keep picking at #20? |

Friedman stated the obvious on his latest podcast, that the Flyers want to sign Anisimov but cannot because they are at 50 contracts. They could try waiving Bellows and see if there's another GM as dumb as Fletcher who will claim him. |

Not sure if undrafteds count but he did well to uncover Myers and Zamula, who I think we all agree should be playing over Seeler. Also, Kalynuk was a 7th rounder who's seen time in the NHL over the past 2 seasons but is probably more of a quad A kind of player. |

Disagree on all 3. Hextall brought in a number of veteran players that helped the team to compete while attempting to clear up the cap and build up the prospect base. He had his share of mistakes, but he was not terrible. - MJL He was average at best (a theme) in bringing in vet players. They did not help the team compete. The top end guys carried those teams. |

This "garbage" is how the NHL has decided who makes the playoffs since 2005-06. If you have a problem with it, you should contact Gary Bettman. |

bold indicates not on the team any more.
No editorializing, just naming names. - MBFlyerfan I do not consider them full time NHL players. If not for injuries they are in the AHL. Sandstrom , who I like, is also borderline. Frost and Cates we shall see though will count them for now.

Its not technically.....
some games are worth 3 pts and some are worth 2. You cant assess quantitatively when there are different qualifying standards.
Now if the NHL went to a 3-2-1 format, then you could use Points% as an arguement, otherwise, as it stands, each game has a winner and a loser and they lose almost 6 out of 10 games |

throw out the season he was hired.
his pts% by season
.645
.518
.372
.432 (through 22 games).
Not a good trend. And this will be 3rd consecutive year with no playoffs.

There's actually 2 more. - MJL What are you using to qualify as an NHL player? 10 games or more? 82 games or more? Need some clarification and context.
Defend until the end. Will he get another job after he is fired from Pitt do you think?

A team that went 41-0-41 would win the President's Trophy with 123 points, so clearly losing in OT or a SO is not the same as losing in regulation. We've had this format for 17 years already.

It's the only % listed on the NHL website, so why would I use something else? We're talking about the NHL, not the NBA or MLB.
https://www.nhl.com/stats...intPct&page=0&pageSize=50 - Feanor
What are you arguing about? The stat IS points %, not winning %.
That isn't some revelation. That is what it IS. It LITERALLY says it at the top of the stat.
