Yes, and that's really the point. Overall, it wasn't about effort last year nor is it about it this year. Both teams played with effort. They lack talent. That's the issue and it has always been the issue. The same thing happened two seasons in a row. Some fans see early results and are fooled by it. As if something has changed. The first dozen or so games for most teams don't show anything. - MJL
I don’t think many thought they would sustain winning. But the approach this year is better than prior years in terms of being able to win a hockey game. You can’t deny that. It might be boring and ugly but This roster should have next to no wins. |

It could turn out to be the same no doubt. But IMO Hextall stunk because of how his picks played out especially the 1st & 2nd rounders.

I will say the same if Chucks flame out the same way. - Fopa21 How it played out yes.
At the time many were giving high praise for those picks. I dont see the same praise on national level for Chuck.

I can't deny that. I'm wondering how you can say that. It's identical to last year in terms of effort and how is the approach better? Goaltending is always an equalizer. That's how they have wins.

Effort is a twisted obsession this team has because of old men that refuse to get out of the way.
You had Bill singing in here how great it would be to have a team of overachievers succeed based on effort.
It's a dogpoop identity, that they refuse to admit needs to be let go. |

The effort is 100% better. And it’s apart of the approach in general, he makes his teams harder to play against and with a weak roster you need that. They collapse a bit in the D zone but you can see a change in commitment in our zone and overall. |

No, it's not. How is this team hard to play against? They're completely passive in the defensive zone, neutral zone and on the PK. They don't pressure the puck. They're easy to play against.
It is remarkable how similar to this point, last's years team and this are. Some early season hot streaks by a few forwards along with early quality goaltending followed by a collapse once the rest of the league ramps it up. |

They currently deploy a lineup that includes Brown Macewen ND Sedlak Bellows, a washed up Braun, Seeler, and the list goes on. Do you expect this team to win or even look good? Now you are moving the goal posts again per usual. |

Seeler has turned out to be a serviceable #6 dman it looks like. Under contract for peanuts next year as well. Coach and GM seem value him a lot. |

Him, and Risto recently have really turned their game around under Torts. To think that he hasn’t been better than whoever was coaching the past two years is foolish. |

Really
So when I say that this team's issue is not about effort, it's about talent. I'm moving the goal posts. You've reinforced my point. Thanks |

I mentioned Risto earlier. He has played better in a 3rd pair sheltered role. Where he likely belongs with 15-17 minutes per game. Now back with Sanheim will he continue to play a more sound game? |

I haven't changed anything.
They're the same. To say that they are not, is simply ignoring the facts and sticking your head in the sand. Effort was not the issue last season and it's not the issue this season. The team's issue is not going to be fixed by effort. |

Those are names of players who chuckles drafted. Not a single on has made a mark in the AHL yet alone the NHL. Cole Caufeild is a top 6 scorer in the NHL right now - chuckles could have drafted him but he didn’t |

I said it was the Flyers best shot at being competitive, not "how great it would be".
And I'd still take being a team with identity and a plan for roster building beyond flushing entire years down the toilet and simply praying year after year for lottery luck with zero long range guarantees on the other side. |

Honestly, who cares if this year's team is playing with more effort? If you truly believe that, then it should be painfully obvious that the whole "effort" initiative isn't worth jack squat. At best, it's the only marketing angle left for a team that doesn't have anything to sell except concessions and merchandise. |

Because this bullpoop plan of trying to be competitive while retooling has worked wonders.
It’s not about actually building a winner though is it? It’s more about the country club continuing to eat out of Snider’s trough like the pigs they are.
When is accountability coming to the front office or say developmental departments?
