Pronger was still playing at a very high level when he got hurt. Who knows how the rest of his career would've gone if he hadn't gotten injured. - MJL
I think it's safe to say that a 35+ player who played the way he did probably wasn't gonna stay elite for very long.
An example might be Chara, who played forever, but really started sliding downhill at around 36-37. |

You need to add Ersson, Sandstrom and Fedotov to this list. - iamscore2day
Well one thing you can't blame Fletcher for is Putin and the war. Of all the mistakes that have been made, Fedatov wasn't one of them. And it was a Hextall pick.
What I will complain about is when Hextall dumped the 7th round pick in 2017 for future considerations to Montreal and they took Cayden Primeau.

This franchise never entered the 21st century. They just keep doubling down on truculence and stupid. Torts is the shining example. - Tomahawk

Bellows looks like a very good AHL forward as his ceiling. - Trox88
He and Frosty will form a start to a formidable second line,

Pronger was such a smart player whose hockey sense was off the charts. He was still a physical monster at that point and still an all- situations player. It's all speculation but I could envision him continuing playing at a high level well into his upper 30's. Barring serious injury.

Yes, but it wasn't an "age related/his body is breaking down" type of injury. It was a freak accident and he was still playing at a Norris level when it happened.

There's certainly been some dmen who have managed to pull that off... Chelios, MacInnis, Bourque, Lidstrom, etc.
Not too common tho. |

Was not saying anything other than a "serious injury happened"
I'm sure catastrophic injury was considered with this franchises great luck with players and catastrophe.
