Put the 4th line out if we get another PP. They will shoot the F'n puck at least. |

There was an early sequence there where Rust walked the puck out from the corner and had a clear lane to the front of the net, instead he tried to pass it through the slot through 2 leafs sticks for a 1 time... just drive the (frank)ing net bro.

Letang hesitates on dump ins until everyone is practically stopped then dumps it in and it’s an easy retrieval for the leafs. The longer he has possession the worse the play |

Yup. He and zuck are both passing up too many opportunities. Negates most of the good work they do in zone. Frustrating to say the least |

xGF of 34% this period ain't good. - j.boyd919
Yeah that early whistle, which would of been a Pens goal, seemed to take the some wind out of their already a bit tired 5 games in 8 nights on 2nd night of B2B older team sails hahah they've come close to scoring a few times, despite the Leafs being better team, just didn't get in there |

Too many point shots that are missing the net. Gotta get to the slot. All 3 Leafs goals came from the slot. Pens are sitting around the outside doing jack poop. |

Yeah for the most part they've either been trying to be fancy/too many touches/not enough shots and/or perimeter sh!t... Not much traffic around their net |

Outstanding play by Petry there. 2 on 3 and he goes all the way over to the guy POJ already had. 1 Game in the next 4 days...we'd better work on some things on the off days. |

How do you bench your best line in this game? Crosby should be shifting with the 4th line wingers while Blueger takes Rusts fat ass spot on the second line. |

The victory showcased how difficult things can potentially be against the Penguins if they have Sidney Crosby playing at a high level and some depth scoring. - Ryan_Wilson
It's the Flyers. Everything is difficult for them. |

This defense is a complete mess. Dumoulin and Petry haven't bounced back. To be fair, they aren't garbage, but they aren't giving us what we needed from guys that were counted on to be the second and third best defensemen.
Add in Letang seemed to be taking a step back. Maybe he's just hit the point where he's better off as a #3 than a #1. But you can't ask Petry to step up. This is where it would have been nice to have Marino take over a larger role and trim Letang's minutes, but Hextall gambled that option away and so far it hasn't paid off.
The others have been fine, but probably not guys you can elevate. Pettersson was thriving on the 2nd pair, but he seems overwhelmed on the top pair. His xGF% is 46% with Letang and 65% without. POJ and Ruuta have been solid but not spectacular in their roles.
We might be able to fix the 3rd line and hope Rust gets on track, but I don't see an easy fix for a defense that looks like it lacks top end horses right now. |

Said it when it happened, trading Marino was a big mistake. |

The schedule really lightens up for quite a while. Eight of eleven at home. (9 of 12 counting the Toronto game). Eleven games in 24 days. Next real road trip is the beginning of January, plus that's the next time they leave the Eastern time zone.
This team is playing better team defense, they're still relying on great goaltending. Too much in my opinion but that's just the way it has to be. We lost to a good team twice, playing seven games in twelve days, travelling basically the entire time. Still had a 5 game win streak in between those two games. Let's give this team some home games before we write them off. |
