that's cause he was hurt

capfriendly has him as on a conditioning stint

soo ......

Arizona wanted to send him to the AHL. They knew he would get claimed on waivers so they decided to trade him for a minor league 3C. He could not crack their lineup.

Book on Timmins is that he is more of a "puck mover" and not physical. This guy could not crack the lineup of the Arizona Coyotes.

I don't have a dog in this fight but he 'cracked the lineup' of the President's trophy winning team from two seasons ago and played all 10 of their playoff games. He's been on the ice for one more playoff series win than just about anyone on the Leafs and it was a sweep of St Louis. Arizona wanted to send him down to Tucson so he could get some more conditioning games in but they were afraid to waive him. He was on their top pair at the start of last season before his knee injury.

Yes, he absolutely has a bad injury history and you're right he's a puck mover even though he's big. He is not a bad defender though and he has a huge amount of upside. He's a very talented hockey player, you'll see that almost immediately.

You make him sound like a blue chip prospect. Teams don't trade blue chippers for 3rd line AHLers. They protect them. But hey - maybe it's an all time fleecing by Dubas.

That’s not accurate. He was on a conditioning stint in Tucson. They wanted to bring him to the big club but he would have to clear waivers. They knew he would be picked up so they made a trade instead.

He was picked one pick out of the first round when the Avs were desperate for D and had literally 3 on their NHL roster (not an exaggeration - Barrie, Zadorov and Johnson were it) and their actual first round pick was used on Makar. He was supposed to start before Makar. He was traded for a G who had finished 5th and 7th in the Vezina the previous two seasons and then won a cup. He played in the playoffs with what was considered one of if not the best D corps in the league Makar, Toews, Girard, Graves and him. I don't know if he's a blue chip prospect and as I said much earlier I have little use for Dubas but if he can somehow stay healthy it will be a damned good trade.

I don't believe that's true. He was in Tucson on a conditioning stint but conditioning stints are not open ended when a player is waivers eligible and they would have needed to send him through waivers to keep him down which they wanted to do.

Yeah I'm ok with the move, but the expectations need to be seriously tamped down here.

No kidding at his salary he should be at least half as good as Holl.

So they were continuing his conditioning stint? The article I read said they were planning to bring him up and that he was going to have to clear.

About a month ago the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship docked just down the road from where I live. So I went down and shouted “JO NESBO”.

But alas you weren’t on board.

He just needs to be better than Mete/Hollowell until Brodie gets back. Anything beyond that is gravy.

I'm virtually certain you do not need to pass a player through waivers to bring him back from a legitimate conditioning stint but they are only allowed down for a few games. Veterans are sent to the AHL after an injury quite often.
