He’s undoubtedly better, by a a lot than ROR ever was as a Sabre.

We robbed them

StL won a Cup dude
And we got a whole bunch of garbage along with Tage
Or did u forget how bad Sobotka was & how Berglund was so awful he quit the NHL ??

- jdfitz77

So you’d trade Tage for ROR straight up right now ?

St. Louis’ success has nothing to do with what doing what is best for the Buffalo Sabres.

Both teams won the trade?

Much like the Vikings Bills trade.

Each team got what they wanted out of it.

StLouis’ success has A LOT to do with saying “we won the trade”

I’d trade Tage for a Cup right now
When Tage hosts the Cup in a Sabres jersey,
then- and ONLY THEN,
can u even begin to argue that we won the trade

Do goalies not get pulled anymore, or is it just too late. Allen is trash.

I remember him being brought up here by a few as the answer to our Goalie needs….

So the Sabres would have won the cup if they kept ROR ?

I beg to differ.

At least they have a 25 year old Superstar signed for the next 8+ years that they can build a team around that hopefully leads us to a cup.

It looked to me like Allen was looking to the bench to see if he was getting yanked.

I didn’t say that
But StL DID win the Cup bc of that trade
ROR was the MVP

And that means they win the trade,
bc they got more outta the trade (winning the Cup), than we did- a good player 4years later

If, and when, Tage is a key player on a Cup team,
then we can talk about getting as much outta the trade as StL did

Samuelsson is great no doubt.

His presence being the reason they finally split up Power and Dahlin giving them a competent top 4 is even more so important.

Sabres’ shooting luck back in bunches tonight after not being able to buy a goal during some of the games during the drought also helps.

STL winning a cup is the only reason why their fan base isn’t jumping off a cliff right now.

Imagine Tage, Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou in the same top 6 ?

I can’t believe we’re arguing about the St. Louis trade still when we are looking at arguably a top 5-10 player in the NHL right now.

Sabres won the deal and it’s not even close.

ROR was boring, not that great, and a self loathing loser when he was a Sabre

Tage is constant entertainment and a legitimate superstar. Watching him is worth the trade 10 times over

The only people who disagree we’re the people wanting to trade Tage for a 3rd before the expansion draft
