good for ruff and the devils organization

this is why when you get a chance to get a star player, you get him even if it's ahead of your timeline

look at how solid the devils d was last night

if we had a hamilton, our d would probably be decent like they were

A typical Sabres game in a couple respects:

1. A 3rd string goalie is made to look great

2. A bunch of people who contribute nothing to the score sheet on a game in game out basis will receive no criticism, but Vic scores his 11th goal and will he hated for it

3. The first line doesn't score, and the game is over because we have no second line.

We need people who show up every game. We have so many guys who are invisible so often.

Also, has to be said, Samuelsson had perhaps his worst game as a Sabre. He blew last night.

10 shots on goal for the tage line
10 shots on goal for the okposos line
9 shots on goal for our d men

5 shots on goal from our middle 6

Devils can skate, forecheck gave are D trouble throughout. Never seemed to get are skating going for prolonged periods, horrible breakouts.

that's a team that can make a deep playoff run based on their style of play

They certainly have skill, and Lindy has them playing aggressive forecheck and paying attention to their responsibilities in the system. I watched the 1st and 2nd, so I can't speak to the 3rd, but man NJ applied strong pressure and were lightning quick. Sabres had little time to react properly.

Hopefully, Adam's and the FO are seeing that it is time to move on without Okposo, and even Girgs. A 9-12 record with an 8 game skid tells me the value of their leadership is way overblown.

Asplund can play Girg's shutdown role, Hino can play Okposo's role with speed. Or, give more playing time in a development year to say young guys who are developing.

Girgs, Okposo, Hino, Mitts and VO can all go...perhaps followed by Krebs if he doesn't start showing signs of life.

Think Krebs just doesn't have the right linemates yet, maybe give him some time in the A. See if him Kulich and Rousek or Rosen can build some chemistry

Sat in the 100s last night for a change - wow is Lindy's team fast, structured and disciplined. I hope this team turns into something like that in the future. NJ is relentless with pressure. In the 1st it seemed like a Sabre couldn't take more than 2 strides without a Devil player being on them. Just checked the box score, 9 giveaways last night but felt like it was a lot more.

It's really too bad that Anderson let that stinker in last night because he was phenomenal in net. A .931 svg% should be good enough for a W most nights. Disappointing that we couldn't put more than 1 past a backup. I will say, I do like how we battled and how physical we were. Game could have been a blowout after the 1st and I felt like we played well enough the rest of the way to get a point. Still, another frustrating loss.

I like Jost at 4C better than Krebs at 4C.

Some positivity after last nights loss

The 2.35 expected goals Buffalo generated was the 2nd most the devils gave up all season at 5v5

They’re the best defensive team in the league this year and Buffalo made them look human

flip side

they played that great period and got outscored 3-1 in that 20 minute frame

time to turn moral victories and good vibes into actual wins

I mean they blew the doors off the Habs, Blues, and put in a good effort against the Devils.

I think it was a positive week.

positive week with a nasty after taste from the game last night

devils get tatar, hamilton, haula, marino, graves, siegenthaler, vancek to round out their roster and draft better in the middle rounds

we get craig anderson, comrie, bishop, vinny, sheahan to round out our roster

I don’t subscribe to the theory that Adams is going to sit on his hands and do nothing forever, but I know some do.

The foundation of this years Devils team has been in the making for the past couple years.

You need to learn how to walk before you can run.

The Sabres are walking right now and I believe are building quite the foundation for future years.

Good Post Pegs!! I agree with most of it, but you can already see some of the redundancy with some of these players. Either let a few more prospects Rousek Kulich Rosen play a few games and see where it goes. Maybe putting Krebs with Rousek and Kulich could get him going. Or even Kulich Krebs Olofsson. Time to start moving the chains a bit.

I generally like the direction the team is going in, yet I also understand the fans lack of patience required with a build through the draft process. I also want some key additions to round out what they don't have on the roster, nor in the pipeline.
2RhD and competent 3rd line that can play with physicality and provide secondary/tertiary scorning with a solid 200' game.

Kind of sad they couldn’t build a contender around Eichel and Reinhart.

When you have to retool again, that’s what happens.

but we are as of today, still a bottom 8 team in the standings 1/4 through another season

that is with tage producing like a top 5 center
dahlin becoming an all star d man

at some point they need to do more then just extending the head coach and gm because of good vibes
