Sabres are a step behind so much tonight.

Not just in foot speed. Their decision making is noticeably slower as well.

It's like they need to shift gears from 2nd to 3rd to 4th, while the Devils are immediately in 3rd gear on their way to 5th gear.

Strange plays to call, goalie was pushed into the net on both of them.

A typical Sabres game in a couple respects:

1. A 3rd string goalie is made to look great

2. A bunch of people who contribute nothing to the score sheet on a game in game out basis will receive no criticism, but Vic scores his 11th goal and will he hated for it

3. The first line doesn't score, and the game is over because we have no second line.

We need people who show up every game. We have so many guys who are invisible so often.

Also, has to be said, Samuelsson had perhaps his worst game as a Sabre. He blew last night.

They had there chances, Stone Hands had a few glorious chances. Didn't even hit the net on a 2 on 1. Okposo slows this group down.

Z tried to pick the corner over the shoulder at an absolutely ridiculous close angle. I expect Skinner or Tage could have scored that way and no one else. He definitely needed to make a better shot.

Ox had 5 shots and a crossbar I think. That ties Dahlin for most shots last night. I agree he is slow, but he knows where to go more often than not.

The Devils were lightyears better. I never saw them break position in their zone. Incredibly disciplined team. With the exception of maybe a total of 5 minutes (2 of which were PP) they absolutely housed us for the first 40 minutes.

I thought maybe if Tage or Dahlin makes an incredible play we can get it to 3-2 and the Devils might panick in the 3rd period, but we couldn't beat Akira. And, that's understandable because the Akira power taps into the power of life and the universe itself. Now, i don't know if the Sabres are as enamored with Japanese cartoons from the 1980s as I am, but they certainly treated this goalie like it.

That softy by Anderson really killed some momentum. Sabres have to many of the same Forwards. Need to find some size for the top 9.

It did. I didn't mention it because he made 6 great saves in the first period. That first 8 minutes was frightening from the point of how good Jersey was.

Oh he's the only reason the game was even close.

See how they finish, gotta start throwing pucks towards the net, get people in front and start using there speed. And score on there damn chances.
