The old adage you can't trade the team has absolutely no place on HB

How can you critique this team if you don’t watch them? Tough to fall asleep with that awesome top 9. Do you think Alvin will actually make a trade before the deadline?

I would hang on to Pettersson. Then build and add content around him.

Thank god Dermott is back practicing with the team. Wouldn’t want to waste that 3rd rounder.

Obviously, they can't trade the whole team, but every player should at least be considered/open for discussion, when management is having discussions with other teams.

I am all for changes and think everyone should be available, but I do realize it is very unlikely to happen.

I am going to go outside the box and say the ones I would keep are Petey Schenn Burroughs Mikeyev Podkolzin and Garland. After that I would look at all options.

I think these players bring good value. You don't have to agree but they are the ones I enjoy watching.

What's likely are small fixes to the D to see where things go. 25 game mark I would say is the thing. After that who know lol

I think this team could do a reasonably quick turn over and be set up for the future by keeping Petey, Hughes, and Demko. Horvat, Miller, Martin, Podz, Boeser, Garland, Mikheyev, Kuzmenko, Lazar could all be turned into assets great and small and bring in young players and picks.

Problem is these scouts are complete ass.

Just curious as to why you keep Demko?
They are currently grooming Silovs in Abbotsford and Martin has been decent enough. Demko should get a decent return, for the quick retool on the fly that you want.

So could Petey and Hughes but I think keeping one high end C, D and G would make sure this team has the foundation to build around. Silovs is an unknown. No guarantees he's going to be a excellent #1 or even a starter for that matter. Martin is a middle aged back up with only 15 NHL games under his belt so there is risk that he can't handle the workloads seasons ahead... Demko gives you certainty. It would be terrible to commit to the quick turn over just to have a cluster (frank) in the crease.

So to be clear I don't want a quick turn over just for the hell of it. I think this team would be foolish to trade Demko unless this team just wants to tank for several seasons. That's just dumb when you have a young bonified first line forward and top 2 D on the team already and a excellent goalie already established with a very reasonable contract in place.

If you trade Demko then trade Petey and Hughes as well. It would be a terrible decision to go that far though.

I personally think this will take at least 4 or 5 years to clean up this mess, so it doesn't matter whether Demko is here now or traded. This group of management will just keep piling onto the cap, with some more of the same types of players.
Cap hell is going to be an on-going issue, or a lack of prospects will be an issue, due to the team spending picks to try get out of cap hell.

Also, I am all in on trading Pouty and especially Hughes.

Canucks won't rush trades because the next coach is going to want to have his say.

Watching Canes--Jets, a scrum ensues and all players get involved, from both teams, nothing serious, just sticking up for each other.
Can't remember the last time I seen Canucks doing that.
