I think it is the opposite. I see the same people going game after game, rain or shine. They are diehard fans.

Twitter and sites like this have a lot of groaning about how things are run, but if you watch the game or attend it is a different animal. I mean just listen to the crowd every time someone scores. Like it or not the paying fans still can't get enough Canucks.

From my experience going at games over the years, there is a large portion of diehard Canuck fans, but they don't know poop about the league as a whole so they definitely have less doom and gloom because they don't know who Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson are in Dallas, or how Jaccob Slavin is the best shutdown defensemen in the NHL in Carolina, if they do know, they don't realize how good they are, and they sure as hell don't know other teams' draft picks or prospects situations either, so there's nothing to be jealous of. They don't know that the Canucks maybe maybe 2 or 3 decent prospects in their system while some other teams have 10.

They only know the McDavid, Draisaitl, Crosby, Ovie, Doughty, Kopitar caliber players etc, and maybe some long term role players on divisional rivals like Backlund or some poop.

Ignorance = happiness as a Canuck fan

I would say mediocrity.

The in-arena experience is pretty solid, I have to say. I have friends who are Oilers fans and even they said they were impressed when they went to a Nucks game last season.

When I went it was a fun 3 hours. They put on a good product throughout the game. I realized then that the actual game was only part of the enjoyment. That is why I doubt Francesco is doing anything soon to appease the HB and Twitter fans.

I agree with all this, but they know who Brock and Petey are, and they are the actual ones spending the big coin.

Thank god Dermott is back practicing with the team. Wouldn’t want to waste that 3rd rounder.

They do a really good job on theme nights. I've been for the Lunar New Year game, the season opener, final game of the year, etc. I would always recommend if someone was going to go on a theme night.

Currently, the Canucks have the 3rd highest attendance in the league, the Coyotes have an average of 4600, in their 5000 seat arena, what a joke.

Canucks are on a two-game burner, so I think the crowd will be fired up having a good time.

I will probably watch half the game.

Totally fair, I like to do both. Every time I leave town I try to make it to a live event of some kind since we get so little here, nothing beats live sports or music.
- NorthNuck

Yeah live music is so much better

I will watch the start of the game and soon get bored and fall asleep or turn the channel.

This core just needs more time together

And maybe some more 3rd liners and #4/5 dmen from other teams

- Nucker101

I think if Bouds actually played the real team for another 10-15 preseason games they would have been fine

Our 3rd rounders are always wasted whether we trade them or use them.

I do think eventually he will lose some of the crowd you're referring to, I find that a lot of them are moms/pops, but I don't think their kids/grandkids who all have twitter/instagram/video games will be bothered to attend games regularly if the team is a perennial loser and a league laughing stock.

I could be generalizing too much here, but that's where I think this franchise is headed, for future generations they won't have the "only show in town" leg to stand on as much because the younger generations have so much other poop to occupy their downtime. Not just technology here, you get way more social media clout for posting a nice picture of yourself out in nature than a selfie in Rogers Arena watching a Canucks game.

If anything I think ownership really (frank)ed up not taking advantage of the grace period they built up after the prime Sedin era, that was the ideal time to rebuild properly. There used to be waiting lists for season ticket sales, now they're readily available.

he's still wearing a non-contact jersey. Plus even when he's back, he might suck.

Look at 30 years old Sven Baertschi in the Swiss league. He's a 3rd liner over there, Oilers castoff Kahun is lighting it up on the same team. Concussions can really (frank) you up.

Sven looked really good on that emergency call up when he was playing for Portland. I think it went to his head and he thought it was going to be easy. Then Burkie basically hurt his feelings and he wanted out. Looked decent for the Canucks until injured, then poof it was gone.

I will disagree with the age grouping. I think it is mostly a young crowd under 40. I see a lot of fans on Twitter in the 20 to 30 range that are diehards.

There will definitely be other forms of entertainment but there has been for years. I think Frankie's thinking is strike while the iron is hot.

I also think when the time comes when fans do stop going it will be a new direction that can be taken at any time. I think the draft is becoming as big as making the playoffs. At least 10 bottom fan bases are as engaged as the top 10 playoff teams. I think you can switch from on to the other on any given year and fans will still be engaged.

How can you critique this team if you don’t watch them? Tough to fall asleep with that awesome top 9. Do you think Alvin will actually make a trade before the deadline?

Believe me, I try to stay awake but it is pretty powerful sleep medicine.
Not sure if I want to see Allvin making another trade, if they are anything like his trade for Stillman.

I think you guys are stuck with this management team for a while. Hard to think Aquaman would be willing to pay another group. Especially after giving Benning the time he did.
You might have to stomach through a few trades and a couple more drafts. I feel your pain, Flames are up and down, win one lose one.

I think PA & JR are standing pat at the Xmas TDL.
