It is the reason Dallas had no intention of resigning him. Terrible defender.
- Reubenkincade

They offered him a contract and his agent thought I can get you way more than this. He is not good at defending. He is still a #4 D on 25/32 teams in the league sadly.

Team defence is how it gets done now.

When Jonas Siegenthaler is the top ranked defensive defensemen in the league. McAvoy, Pelech, Tanev, Heiskanen, Slavin are all on the top 10 list too.

Not wanting to defend this management team. But the trade happened before the season started. For what mostly was reported as cap reasons. To say they gave a second for Stillman is misleading.

Anyway, we can all agree that the pain of watching this mess will continue. At least it can be entertaining.

You can believe any report you want, but the problem was, they signed a similar player to Jason D, for twice as much, realized that they couldn't move out salary, putting themselves in cap trouble. Found a team that would be interested in Jason D, and decided to throw in a 2nd, to acquire Stillman.
Another garbage move, that was noted in Booners strike list.

Sorry yeah I meant like course correct from the disaster of a training camp / pre-season ... when the very weakness on D they identified in the off-season was looking like it was going to come to complete fruition.

Sanford has a bit of defensive pedigree, might be worth taking a look.
- Reubenkincade

Will he not be known forever as the guy that Bortuzzo punched during practice that led the team to the Stanley cup.

Some of that is definitely off side. But are you saying you would have been on board if they signed Ben Chiarot, Eric Gudbranson or Troy Stecher instead?

If Aquilini hired you or I for $1m/year to stand behind PA/JR with a yard stick and slap them with every time they suggest something stupid he would save billionz!

What the (frank)? Lefty has to stop pushing drugs on here. The drug psychosis is getting out of hand.

Fair, he's not what this team needs now but Z has next level skill. Surrounded with a team and some maturity who knows what he could be.
- Sayros

The same as many of the players Van has right now. Hopeless

Just give up drafting some BPA soft wingers and find some net front not soft players.

Lefty isn't the dealer, that's Donna. His speciality is bath salts.

I like Seigenthaler, but not sure he is the best defensive defenseman, I think I would rate him behind all the others you mentioned, with Heiskanen being at the top of my list.

Another great game for Miller. 7 more years of his alpha leadership.

It was a high price to pay for cap reasons. Mostly because they had a lot of injuries from pre season/camp. But didn’t want to put all of them on LTIR. Like Poolman.

Anyway, the Canucks were committed to competing from their off season moves. So now it just looks worse. I am sure when they start selling they can get that ‘24 draft pick back.

I think what some fans don't understand is what a 200' player is.
Some tend to attach it to players who score points and contribute defensively, some attach it to players who have good puck possession numbers and others attach it to players who are constantly aware of, and capable of being good positional players.
Right now, the Canucks currently have 3 solid 200' players and 2(Lazar and Aman) of them are playing on the 4th line, the other being Pouty, who has improved his 200' game, immensely.

- Reubenkincade

I simplify it. A player who is solid in all 3 zones.

Ya, I usually do as well, but when talking to analytic people, they don't understand true hockey language.

Yeah absolutely they missed the mark on D. But then again that probably required a JTM, BB or Bo trade. They opted otherwise.

It’s not enough to just score you need your forward as well to be defensively responsible. They are just not getting the job done.

Yet Calvin De Haan was available, through free-agency, for zero cost other than salary, just a few days earlier.
If the management team didn't know that Poolman wasn't returning then I don't know what to say.
They shouldn't have capped themselves out, when they had said last season, that they needed cap flexibility, yet had to have Emilie perform cap magic, in order to be cap compliant, to start the season.

I think everyone except for DeMelo, brings more to the game than Seigenthaler. One reason why I wouldn't necessarily thought he would be a top that list.

How about when the net was empty and Brock could have given his man a minor bump and won possession but instead waived at him with his stick while he did a fly by and the dude almost scored. (frank) off Brock !

I don't think anyone has mentioned this but when Bruce swapped Garland out for Boeser, that line let in 2 quick goals. Fail....

Not just the defensive zone or neutral zone but also the offensive zone, where usually if you are decent, you put up points.

Beagle and Sutter played how many years and had 3 noms between them. 2 players that were very good defensively, that lacked that 3rd zone at the other end of the ice to put them as selke forwards that are really 200' players.

Alex Pietrangelo has been amazing this season so far and he proved it again last night against the Vancouver Canucks as he scored one goal, added two assists and Vegas outplayed Vancouver by far with him on the ice! Excellent performance! Vegas won 5-4.

The other teams defence being better than Van's has been a story since day 1.

We’ve got changes to the lines!

Line combinations from Tuesday’s #Canucks practice:

Miller-Horvat-Höglander
Kuzmenko-Pettersson-Mikheyev
Garland-Lazar-Boeser
Joshua-Åman-Podkolzin

Extra: Dries

Hughes-Schenn
OEL-Bear
Stillman-Myers

Still looks like the same poop to me.

Isn't that the result you wanted last night? Bottom 5.
