Don’t forget #85 - Olesz, he’s another no-brainer to have his jersey retired.

Bettman Cup Standings (for 1st worst record) Points/Games Played
1) 0.58 Ducks (-32 goal differential)
2) 0.72 Sens (-7)
3) 0.78 Sabres (-4)
4) 0.79 Nucks (-10)
5) 0.81 Sharks (-10)
6) 0.82 Yotes (-18)
tie 7) 0.83 Hawks (-18)
tie 7) 0.83 Jackets (-23)
I see Hawks rising in this competition over the next 3 weeks. The Yotes would be worse but they play in the weak Pacific division. Jackets have injuries and should be in same trajectory as Hawks. I can see Nucks, Sharks, Ducks putting some points up soon and falling in these standings. Sens and Sabres are better (check out goal differential) but play in stronger divisions, so it is hard to tell how many points they can pick up.

Well have you noticed how many Hawks have "Hands of Stone"......puck hits stick and bam, other team has possession.....AHL Squad at best - glennjpawlak22
Good point. It is crazy how poor some of the Hawks are at receiving good passes. (Granted there is not an over abundance of good passes. But still....) |

How can Buffalo be bad they've been drafting high for 20 years. Beware of drafting 18 year olds. It's practically impossible.

Wonder if the Sens being up for sale, and ADB owed $9 mil. in a qualifying offer if things don't improve for the Sens that ADB becomes deadline trade bait?

Yotes also just got Schmaltz and Chychrun back so they should improve as well.
It always is interesting to see the teams that people think should notably improve with the moves they've made, or continued growth (Sens, Buffalo) and they end up struggling. You could say the same about last year's Hawks (to a degree) |

So who would be viewed as the better trade target, Kane or ADB? Obviously different skill sets, but both point producers. One, you would have no obligation to after the season, the other you have negotiating rights. |

It died as soon as the Hawks started losing talent and they wanted/needed him to start producing more points. He was amazing for what they asked him to do at the time and (for the most part) what they paid him.
Too bad he's no longer on ZSC Lions. I was hoping to see him while I'm out there. Instead, I'm stuck with Sven Andrighetto, Alexander Texier, and Lucas Wallmark.

Depends on if the team wants to make a move to just make a move or make a move to compete for a SC.

Well, at least the back end will be getting a bit more mobile soon. Hoping they keep Mitchell up to continue playing. He hasn't looked too shabby, and I'd like to see him get his feet under him at this level.

Hearing the Leafs, now being without their top three d-men due to injury, are stepping up the search for a D-man. Off course Chychrun has been someone that is being scouted by everyone now that he is back and playing…I’ve written plenty on that….
However, there is something WAY bigger brewing under the radar….but won’t be for long…
I am also hearing that a deal could be worked out to bring Erik Karlsson to the blue and white…
I am told it would require Chicago getting involved as a thyroid team and of course salary being eaten along the way, but can you imagine the Leafs with Karlsson leading the rushes and power play?
Two sources are telling me it could happen as early as this weekend….
I will off course continue to track this… |

The StanBo model - Build via Free Agents, bad trades and bad contracts with FULL NMC.

I'm referring more to dumping real players for draft choices as a rebuilding strategy. |

One of the more glowing reviews of AA I've seen from DFO (Seravalli's publication):
13. Andreas Athanasiou
Left Wing, Chicago Blackhawks
Age: 28
Stats: 18 GP, 5 G, 3 A, 8 Pts
Contract: Pending UFA, $3 million AAV
Scoop: Feels like we’re a long ways away from Feb. 2020, just before the pandemic hit, when Athanasiou garnered two second-round picks from Edmonton. He struggled with injury in L.A. Now, he’s back to flying around again in Chicago with incredibly valuable speed. He is tied for second in the league with five breakaways this season, according to Stathletes, and generates a league-leading number of scoring chances off the rush. He is the perfect flippable asset for Chicago.

Maple Leaf defence is decimated, just put Morgan Rielly on LTIR with knee injury. Muzzin on LTIR, Brodie also out injured.
Leafs are at the 50 contract maximum. They need help from Kyle Davidson.
How about 2 good prospects from Toronto for Caleb Jones? |

Does he not remember his own team dealing with their own problem and had to settle with a couple last year after Bill Guerin telling the victim to stay stay quiet?

How do you know when a Hawks player is doing okay? When the BOD ignores such player, and for the most part, he has been ignored here. |

Oh your disdain for the Leafs. But C Jones on Chicago helps garner an earlier draft choice. for any team he plays for. |

If Vlasic and one-third recall performs reasonably well in NHL for ten go, I'll accept whatever level Mitchell is showing and trade Murphy. But only if we get an early to mid #2 '23 or can switch our #2 fir their late #1 (would you agree?). You have to pay for experienced dmen of descent ability + good contract WHEN you dip to late first round. Even moving six slots up in this draft is worthwhile when you have a player KD likes a lot.
In case Chicago did not draft a forward with their own #1 and scenario where they did draft a firward with own first round, a later first round choice could wind up being busy player avsilable. Which is what you are supposed to do when drafting particularly in round one. The odds we select at least one forward and one center in round one naturally increases with two selections |
