You guys should stroll on over to Ryan Wilson's Pens blog and see the nice little add-on he gave at the end of his blog.

On the bright side, the Hawks generally outhit their opponents. Wasn't that long ago that this board kept pointing out that they were always being outhit, even as they were winning.

Tinordi was a waiver wire pickup. Nobody was expecting him to be as good as his dad once he got here. It's more an indictment on the lack of ready assets than anything else. In other words, he's the symptom of the team's problems, and not the problem itself.

Back in the day, this board used to whine about low faceoff percentages and the lack of hits and fights. It was written that they wouldn't be truly good unless they did those things.

Now they do those things and they suck.

I am all for having a Ring of Honor instead of retiring numbers. Larmer's #28 should have been up there years ago and I agree with Doug Wilson and Chelios. Let's go back in time a bit. How about Max Bentley and Charlie Gardiner. The Hawks have been around since 1926 not since 1961.

B. Hull wore #'s 16 and 7 in addition to #9, should those be retired too? Can you unretire a number because his off ice behavior would be looked in a different lens in today's world? We are changing names of team's schools, etc., why is his number still retired?

My guess is that would only happen (or at least be discussed) if someone brought the subject up in a town hall with Rocky (if they ever let him in front of a camera again), Danny, and/or Jaime. Beyond that, it's just something discussed on blogs.

As I've already stated, I think all the numbers should be unretired.

I was just going to say the exact same thing. It's hilarious that they are killing it in faceoff percentage but getting smoked in total possession.

Well have you noticed how many Hawks have "Hands of Stone"......puck hits stick and bam, other team has possession.....AHL Squad at best

His number is still retired for what he did on the ice. Was he a bad guy 60 years ago? Sure. Is he still a bad guy? I don't know. They don't go into the hall of fame for being a great husband.

Took 4 spins to get the #1 O/A. Got bumped to #7 & #8 on 2 of the spins.

Your opinion...but 100% disagree about unretiring numbers. IT's an honor for the player and a tribute to make sure nobody else wears said number. I like it.

What I think is a joke when you look at guys like Larmer, Belfour, Chelios, Roenick from that age and not 1 is retired BUT they retired Magnusson because he was a beloved member of the organization. So this BS mantra of needing to be in the HOF, etc fails quickly when allowing #3 up there. yes, I know Pilotte had worn it before.

What will also get interesting is if they decide to have a night for Quenneville or Bowman similar to the way the Bulls honored Krause. Slippery slope ahead of those at high paid levels to determine who else gets in.......

Keith, Toews, kane for sure.........If you retire 7 or 10 you have to do the other and then likely Crawford as well....seems like a lot. Opening Pandoras box a little. Then what about Hammer?

Well before he road off into the sunset, likely carrying his diety's golf clubs around with his unlit cigar hanging out of his mouth like the clown he will always be, Uncle Barry Rozner told us that teams that have high hit totals are chasing the puck.......so there's that.

I wonder if he is having dinner at the McDonough's this Thursday?

Here is what I don't understand - Why is it at all important that no one else ever wears that number? Was it some major disrespect to Butkus for Jim Morrissey to wear 51 before the Bears retired it? Did that in any way detract from what Butkus did for the Bears?

Again, recognize the player. Who cares what number they wore? Literally the ONLY reason that #81 is retired is because #18 was already retired by Chicago. They retired #3 for two different guys wearing it.

Yeah for me it does......when I think of 81,88,19, and even 2......I think of the recent core. I don't think of Eric Weinrich or Daniel maloney.

Bears screwed it up by retiring every idiot they could and then realized they ran out of numbers. Typical McCaskey F up.

My whole point is IF an organization decides to retire numbers and not do a ring of honor (which Ive always liked) you hold to those standards and don't bend them for a guy here or there.

That's why if I was a Roenick or Larmer or Chelios or even Belfour and I come back for a heritage night or what have you and look up and see Magnusson....yeah that would be tough....and then to sit down and see Mark Bell or Reichel skating around on top of it? Guys give everything to their teams, fans, etc....it's their legacy up to the team to honor it or at least be consistent with how they decide.....

So, doesn't that give more credence to NOT retiring numbers? It's not like no one else ever wore those numbers (except for maybe Kane?). If #19 gets retired, will Troy Murray be mentioned?

Again, it depends on the organization's criteria for retiring a number. If Toews never had come along, I never heard ANYONE campaigning for Murray's number to be retired....so to answer to your question, no I would hope not. I would hope it would be Toews name up there alone and that's that.

if you held a gun to my head here are the numbers I think should get retired.

28---this one to me is beyond comprehension how it hasn't happened
27--Roenick defined a great period of this organization, and is a top American born player. Should be a HOF as well.

If they want to retire 7 and do Seabrook and Chelios....sure...but if they don't....I wouldn't bat an eye.

Every Hawk number including #3 (not Magnuson so don't know why he is included, he is not the only former Hawk player to die a tragic death) is in the Hall of Fame. Larmer is not, only reason I can think of that #28 is not retired.

22, Jerry Korab, not retired is a travesty.
