Well, you know, I was really feeling it tonight. So I figured I drop that out there. I really couldn’t do it without all you guys, but I had the shot so I took it.

For a franchise that won 4 straight cups and even the Conference finals 2-years-in-a-row recently, those two moments in the 1st round of a lost playoff series still seem so big.
And, they were called perfectly. Just letting the crowd scream after Bates scored is still perfect. And, Howie Rose calling the Cairns’ fight “Cairns pummeling Corson” was perfect. God, the point to the media box on the way off the ice and the fist pound with Bates, awesome too.

That series was like old time hockey. Probably the last of it’s kind unfortunately because that version of hockey was immensely better imo. Like everything else today the game has been pussified since then. Hockey has evolved into this watered down version of what it once was. It’s a god damn shame.

I agree. I was at all three of those games at the Coliseum. It was an incredible experience. "Old time hockey" was the best.

I recorded the game and after men's league I came home fired up the garage furnace and watched the game out there. Two of my buddies came over and each had a mason jar of weed and my God those two smoked for the entirety of the game. I'm not sure how they were functioning but you would have loved it streaks. I didn't partake last night just drank beers

Lucky bastard and the cairns beating of Corson was a top 10 moment in isles history
This may be one of my favorite moments in isles history, I hated Tucker, Roberts and Corson and I remember going nuts when he beat Corson. It was my background screen in college

I feel like a lot of the emotion has been extracted from the game. Sure the installation of the instigator penalty had a lot to do with that but it’s more then that imo. You look at a fight in the 80’s and 90’s and compare it to whatever the hell they call a hockey fight these days and there’s some real contrast. Back in the day players hated each other for various reasons. Whether it was the targeting of an opposing teams star, just general dislike, etc. it came out during the game. The hate was real.
You see very little of that in todays nhl even in the playoffs. That series was a grudge match. Both teams hated each other and there was no mistaking it.
You were saying? Since none of you pay attention to anything but points.. That was Beau's 4th shot on net. Dobson also had 4, Lee had 3, Parise had 3, Mayfield had 3. No other forward had more than 1... no other D-man had a single shot.
Beau also had 3 hits and 3 take aways, and tons of forechecks in the corners of the O-zone.. but according to most Isles fans until that goal he was "Invisible" .
I really don't know wtf you guys are watching .. honestly. The shift that turned the 3rd period around again.. was when Beau was on the ice with Brock and Barzal. ..fyi. from that point on they were buzzing.

I have been fortunate to attend many sporting event in my life.. I have heard some really loud and insane buildings during insane moments. That was by far the loudest I ever heard an arena or stadium. it was just bedlam.
