When he's been given bonafide opportunities, he's shown he can produce to at least a complementary level.

Yeo said a bunch of times last season that he was focused on process -- more than points -- with Frost. The big picture goal was that the points would eventually come with it but he'd become a more well-rounded player in the process.

The month he spent with Mayhew and Willman last year was specifically about getting him to break the habit of playing at a glide/standstill.

But you are right that his current opportunity to play with more skill and speed on his line is on him if he doesn't make the most of it.

The casual fan can see it. Then why cant the coach and GM see this Bill? Why are they making more difficult than it needs to be? Something doesn't add up.

Does he have an attitude? Bad practice habits? Doesn't listen? What are the reasons for a team that has non existent skill up front.

The team lacks what Frost “can” bring. Skill. As they lose and the fairy tale of the early on success fades, Torts and our Bozo GM need to make development of guys like Frost their #1 priority. I actually think Mac and Seeler have played well …but they need to focus on Zamula….on York…on Laczynski…on Tippet. What’s not acceptable is losing with guys like Sedlak, Brown and even Braun while the younger guys with upside sit and watch from Lehigh or worst yet the press box.

Kids a good player. We’ll see what both York and Brink become because that’s trade off. You can’t teach the ability to find open ice and score like he does….there’s a bunch of teams that passed on Caufield that probably regret it, not just the Flyers.

I have no idea what the rational is for Zamula. Send him down to LV. As mentioned last night with Laughton out, probably expect Anisimov to be called up. Another kick in the nuts, but I want them to drop in the standings like a rock. so bring him up.

It is hilarious that Caufield has 66 NHL points already while York can't beat out Seeler.

Paying a DMAN over 5 million per for 6 years to play 16 minutes a night is a great investment.

So is it safe to say Frost isn't good enough to elevate any of his line mates unless they have "skill"? At what point does the player become accountable for his play and the excuses stop?

Same thing happened to Hayes last game. He's plced with 2 anchors and disappears....

Will york and brink have a combined 20 goals in their first 95 games - yet alone 38?

Well that is on the Flyers. Seeler is a veteran and plays a heavy game. Two things the Flyers prioritize. On every other NHL team York beats out Seeler, AIAEC...

Frost was a late 1st rd pick. The issue can be discussed is should the B Schenn even happened. IIRC, this organization felt Schenn could not play center. So an interesting hypothetical. Without the trade, no Farabee also. However, if Schenn stays at center, then probably no Hayes signing. My basic point is since drafting Coots, this organixation has zero depth thru the draft at center. Even if Gauthier pans out, more center depth is needed.

All lip service. So everything he says you believe?

The coach controls the lineup and ice time. So that part is 100% on him. He is not developing nor is he evaluating for next year when you look at the lineup from game to game when the season started.

- furio16

I didn't say I believe everything he says. I said that I believe he knows the team is bad. When he says that this season is more about evaluating players than winning I believe he's saying it because he knows the team is BAD. I also didnt say I agreed with the way he structures his lineup. I believe he is trying to win games. I believe you know what you're getting when you hire Torts and that he is giving the Flyers exactly what they expected.

Neither am I ….I don’t think Braun has been great…I think RR has struggled….and Seeler after a great first few weeks wouldn’t be missed for a few games.

He is a slick passer.
He does glide around a lot.
These next few games will tell the tale of the tape for him.
I hope you all are correct and he shows he can be a top 6 NHL player.
I still only see an Top 6 Ahler

Seeler has earned his spot. The hate for him I don’t get. There are others who can and should sit.

Zamula should be playing no doubt.

We all know Chuck Fletcher isn’t a very good GM but what I’ve seen this week is more damaging to his credibility then I realized. Johnny Gaudreau probably could have been affordable if we didn’t jump all over Tony DeAngelo, Nick Deslauriers and by out James van Riemsdyk. There are plenty of young guys in the minors who probably could player nightly here such as Tanner Laczynski and Igor Zamula who are getting bounced around.

Once again Cole caufield proves to be legit and we passed on him.

We all know what Ghost is doing in Arizona. We all know about the picks given away.

I see all of this, this week and I don’t understand how Hextall becomes a topic around here 4 years later. Chuck Fletcher might be the worst GM in not only Flyers history but Philadelphia’s history. Your regular Joe might make one or two of these mistakes but the big picture shows me this ship is sinking and we only have 1 man to blame.

I’m not as down on Torts as many on here are, not that I agree with everything. With Zamula specifically, I thought the idea of keeping him with the Flyers had many positives:

1) Continue to work closely with Flyer’s staff in gaining muscle and not losing ground gained in that area this past offseason
2) Practice at the NHL level with better players and NHL coaches
3) Have NHL video review and game analysis to learn from

What I didn’t expect was that he would not be regularly inserted into the lineup. I don’t usually like the idea of a young developing player being the extra and sitting for long stretches. In this case, it made sense because they are trying to work on his weight and strength off ice and a full season may be too tasking on him right now. I just thought he would be in more often than he has to get video and practice instruction.
I hope the weight and strength part is going well at least.

The Flyers have lost six straight. Zamula hasn’t played for more than two weeks now. Seems like there is opportunities to insert him. Now would be good.

Maybe they are planning to make trades of current defensemen. IDK.

Seeler also look better than the 5.1 mill cap anchor ⚓️ Ristolainen to be blunt.
