100%.
Power and Dahlin together should never be a thing when your other two d-pairs are getting fed their lunch.
The coach has to own the crappy special teams and sub-optimal lineup decisions.
They played good at even strength to start the year and even that is fading. - Pegullaville
And the roster construction is terrible.
Idc about hitzzzzz but there are 3 forwards out of 12 who will go to the net or be a threat anywhere besides the perimeter. Thompson, Skinner and Cozens. Peterka and Quinn maybe develop that part of their game, but that’s it.
Hinostroza is brutal, Mittelstadt is a PP specialist at this point, Olofsson is useless. Girgensons, Asplund and Okposo are redundant.
This lame GM chose to bring back Jokiharju, Mitts, Hino, Anderson, etc and do basically nothing to improve and now they’re trending to be one of the worst teams in hockey again |

Can’t wait to get a middle six wing, replacement level D and late first for Dahlin |

Dahlin should return what?
2 1st round unprotected picks
1 1st line forward
1 best organizational prospect at any position
That's the minimum i would accept. If we can't get that I would just keep 26 and let him walk for nothing when his contract expires. |

Best case, Tkachuk value. Worst case, Eichel value. What's your confidence in KA, if he's here?

Hopefully more are seeing Granato is not a good coach. KA better send a message soon, either a trade or firing |

Since we picked up yost. We brought in more grit. According to hockeybuzz we should now be winning the cup.
More grit = more wins |
|
|

We are losing because either guys aren't showing up or they aren't playing together as a unit.
Thats on the coach |

Is toughness and grit the same thing? Jost averages about 20 penalty minutes a season. Not sure you know what you are talking about. |

I'm lost in the woods with Adams. There would be no end of teams lining up for Dahlin. I wouldn't trust Adams to be able to identify a top line forward or the best prospect in an organization, frankly. And, I've seen no evidene to think otherwise. |

Dahlin is not even close to the problem.
Problem:
Coaching
Lack of depth on defense was addressed with bringing in Lyubushkin
Skinner, Okposo, Mitts, Krebs, Olofsson, Joker, Bryson need to go. Possibly Tuch too
You can’t compete in the NHL without real goalies

How could aything im posting be read to think Dahlin is the problem?
Dahlin is going to leave when his bridge deal expires. Better bend your mind around that because unless he's a fool he would never sign here long term.

Would Dahlin break 100 points every season if he and Darnel Nurse suddenly switched teams? |

Dahlin would put up 80 on 75% of the teams in the league. Imagine him on Boston, Carolina, Colorado |

Analysis that backs up what everyone should be seeing with the bad power play that never seems to have the approach changed.
https://www.expectedbuffa...g-have-changed-the-vibes/
>>> Speaking of special teams, that’s another area that continues to be an issue under Granato. Heading into tonight, the Sabres are 29th in shot quality for on the power play and 22nd in shot quality against on the penalty kill. Last year, they were 30th and 17th respectively in those categories.
>>> Thankfully for Granato, Tage Thompson has turned into an offensive force and has bailed them out on the power play with his shooting. Other than that, it’s a predictable plan that is easy to defend and has little likelihood of success outside of a great shot. Converting on one of their eight chances against the Senators with only five shots on goal during the man advantage is embarrassing.
>>> This team is not good enough yet at 5 on 5 to overcome poor special teams. It’ll continue to sink them as the season goes along if nothing is done about it and they rely on hope shots to keep going in. |

Examples of part of what constitutes defensemen playing good defense.
The Lyubushkin - Pilut pair did well in the 3 or so games they were together.
Problem is they're best as a 3rd pair. Playing up in the lineup is asking for trouble, as we all have seen.
This same writer is advocating for a trading for Jakob Chychrun to stabilize the top 4 defense for seasons to come.
https://www.expectedbuffa...-in-buffalo-sabres-again/
Any of the below sound familiar...?
>>> The organizations’ fixation on forcing Henri Jokiharju and, to a lesser extent, Jacob Bryson into significant roles will continue to hurt their results.
>>> I’ll hear arguments for Bryson’s skillset value in a high-event Granato system predicated on the counter-rush. Jokiharju on the other hand is going on two-plus seasons of negative results. Though he’s been injured for a good chunk of the year so far, I haven’t seen anything to indicate that an improvement is on the horizon. |

if we kept ullmark is it still this bad? - homiedclown
100%. No goalie can fix our bad defense. Hasek. Miller. Lunquist. Price.
All the same results.
Way way way too many breakaways, odd man rushes, and easy tap in goals.

Reality thinks Comrie stinks. He's been waived by three separate teams in his career, and he could be waived today. And, no one would claim him. |
