So Mitchell recalled just in time to hop on the plane to Baahston. Hopefully he dresses for the game and Caleb sits with Mitchell playing on the PP.

How about???
Johnson-McCabe
Tinordi-Murphy
Roos-Mitchell

- boilermaker100

i would think in order to split up the 2 rookies

Tinordi-Murphy
McCabe-Mitchell
Johnson-Roos

Either way, no wonder the Hawks possesion numbers are bad.

Yep, more likely. Good point. You're a better coach than me.

Not really, I could see Johnson-McCabe as your "shutdown pair" (oy-veh)

I know it's rough

Some nights if the opponent plays a solid structured game the talent difference between the 2 teams are very noticeable

You have hair left to pull out? Lucky bastard.

I think I’m most interested in seeing how long Kane and Toews go until they are just fed up with the losing and ask out. As much as I’m sure he would like to be the all-time Hawk leader in points, I just think he works too hard to toil on a team with no shot.

- Chunk

He must be working hard off the ice or in practice because her sure doesn't do much during the games. He does his stupid pull up at the blueline move, and gives the puck away a lot and then lolli-gags it back on the "backcheck". He needs to be gone ASAP.

Valid points for sure. I was at the game Monday night and it was not an impressive performance.

You do realize this is the beginnings of a rebuild? They have minimal talent and aren't supposed to be good.

But 99 is considered the greatest hockey player and he rarely spent time in the defensive zone. He will never lose to Hossa in a 200 foot game.

Have a ticket to Kelowna at Seattle next Wednesday and there are just too many prospects in this one game to watch them all closely. Should be interesting.

Seattle has Korchinski and Allan and Kelowna has C. Dach who are already drafted

Kelowna has two 2023 eligibles:
Andew Cristall, LW (Wiz rank is #17)
Caden Price, LD (Wiz #22)

Seattle has 2023 eligibles:
Scott Ratzlaff, G (Wiz #68)
Nico Myatovic, LW (Wiz #87)
Gracyn Sawchyn, C (Wiz #134)

No matter where that Tampa Bay gift for Hagel part one is in the my standings, I just simply cannot see not gambling on the Giant Czechian goalie Michael Hrabal as the pick, reach or not. No rip on Arvid, because I really like him, or the possibility Drew Commesso is NHL eventual;

Right now before we have a lottery the first 1st rd. pick stands at slot nine.
On my board if Zach Benson, or Edmund Sale are there, I scoop even before my Colby Barlow. COULD Matthew Wood (already at UConn) and plays three positions drops?
(Why worry ? The Hawks are going to be who drops in the standings!!!!)

You know these boards are gonna roller coaster big time as we watch Junior.

I really don't think they take a defenseman.
I did notice my boy Corey Pronman had Cameron Allen missing in his guesses of a first round, and figured it was an error on his part, but the fact is after being such a good international player on that U-18 flying forward powerhouse (the majority of who are IN THIS Draft), he has sputtered and seems a bit slower in action with Guelph, and they have won like 4 games and he is a minus in the teens.
So if Allen is around in the second then maybe I break my Hawk philosophy and take him with Hawk first 2nd...

They already shot for the fences withe 3rd First rounder on Dee last year.

I just don't see a quality in any of the bottom third of the defenseman candidates winning over the hearts and minds of their scouting staff, because there are so many good qualities in the forward group that fills that Tampa pick area.

Whether it is a guy you wait for longer as he builds his body, lthere are simply many prospects with lots of character there. Winners.
(This may be why they will think to by-pass the big six foot six goalie, maybe)

No doubt Noah Allen will be the Seabrook type if he does fit well as the LHRD with the Korchnski.
It makes sense that you have a strong skating powerfully balance and smart defender like Noah Allen as a possible. (I always liked him, UNTILL his putrid draft year where only StanBow saw first round value after Allen's international play that year.)

Btw, I like everything about Scott Ratzlaff's character and as long as we chose him as a substitute for Michael Hrabal.

I am not a gambler but I do not know if anyone can predict picks 16-50 in close to the final selection order...they are simply nice strong prospects with lots of guys behind them in the second and third rounds that may have a few chinks but still quality chances to mine gold.

Wiz, what is your take on Leo Carlsson? I read some have him as a #3 pick this year ahead of Michkov.

Had season tickets in the 80’s at the old barn, #99 was the biggest cherry picker in the history of the league, spent his time by the red line, since two line passes were not allowed in those times.

I think with Michkov, it is a matter of many factors, and I do agree it is NOT similar to there 2022 drop of Ivan Miroshnichenko to Washington at slot #20 when many started him as the top 2-4 pick.

Michov is way different, amazing with his hands and stick as a scorer, but you notice no one bit but the Capitals on Miroshnichenko, and that maybe because they have a strong foothold with allies in the motherland and the Russians on the team help too, and felt communication from Miroshnichenko's reps was clear to his wants and future.

So, sure some teams may feel completely out of the depth, and the wait (which DOES work for a team so far away like the Blackhawks who can wait until a couple new fixtures arrive before he does.

But the question was about Carlsson:

From what I see, he is a patiently calm attacker 200 foot forward who is big bodied load that handles pucks really well in the attack, beating one on ones without having to slow or study due to his quick smarts.
I list him as a Left Handed RIGHT WING on my board, mostly because he is a safe pick as both pivot and wing.
Now before anyone thinks he is ready made, know that he isn't a top six Swedish pro league player yet, but of course, he is at 17 !

I think he gets picked quick.

I loves me some Yager, Sale, Benson, Barlow and Ritchie / Smith, but Carlsson is solid andprtotypical of the old size per players with quick feet and hands to make some impact. It is not like he is a goal scoring binge right now, but he is the type of forward teams get build around.
Here is my player profile off Lines dot com mock:

Big bodied Swedish Centre-wing who handles the puck well, display excellent vision, plays a two way game and shows competitiveness in his battles for pucks. He is a big horse who is a force. He played as a regular with Orebro HK in the SHL last season, and has faired very well, creating offense and is able to beat opposing defenders one on one. So far has played exclusively on the wing in the Swedish pro league. He is a difficult to stop freight train barreling through the neutral zone and picks up steam on his entry and will cut hard to the middle, attacking the net. Has good hands, feet and stick and there is room on his frame for more size and strength. Unselfish playmaker who also can score impressive goals. Plays in all situations and the top power play and penalty kill units. Drifts to open areas in the attack zone, and if it draws defenders, he hits the teammate whose gained that open space. A team leader with excellent drive and calm in his possessions. In the August Four Nations U-20 Tourney, he had six points and was a plus 4. Captained the Swedish U-18 club. Currently the third line centre on Örebro HK, he sees time on the power play and has 11 points in his first 14 SHL games. Looks to be the first Swedish player to get his name called in 2023, and future NHL big centre.

But his totals were easily padded, when the league had co-incidental minors off to the box, and 4 on 4 open much of the ice...

What was Sather going to do - tell Gretzky he preferred winning games 3-2 instead of 12-6 or 9-5 and he had better start backchecking?

That team was so good they wanted to let the opponent score a little bit too so they didn't fall asleep from boredom. And Grant Fuhr usually helped by giving up a few soft ones to start the game.

Since every guy on the team is a borderline NHL player, one could expect them to play harder than anyone so they don't lose these NHL paychecks. Instead they let the game come to them. On the few times there was a loose puck near the Cane's net, nobody was willing to get bloodied to push it in. Then with 3mins to play and the Hawks finally pressuring, nobody thought about pulling the goalie to try and make it a game late. If you don't have talent, you have to try harder and get creative. I have not seen it yet.

I tell you what:

I am claiming Tyson Jost, no matter if he turns out or not.

Can it hurt our current centre ice depth (or after the deadline) ?

As we slowly slide in the standings….

What’s the deal with the draft?

Isn’t the rule you can’t drop more than three slots?

Finish last you’re guaranteed a top three pick…

Finish 2nd to last guaranteed 4th or better….

Etc……

Exhale…

I just know in my mind when I Exhale that it was lottery wins that moved New Jersey up a few times and New York Rangers, so I there is a correlation between good top of the first players helping in most drafts. I want that for my team...

Dylan Sikura, and Mike Hardman both have tons to prove. If you bring both of those guys up and start them, the product on the ice gets worse not better.

No amount of compete will fix getting hemmed in your own zone for 5 minutes straight, or not being able to actually anticipate and handle a pass from Kane.

Oh, I agree. What I was trying to say was that certain players should be able to cherry pick. Unfortunately the Hawks are not a good team, so when Kane cherry picks, it sometimes stands out in a bad way. On a good team he would get away with it and you would see the results.
