It was not a good decision the pass.

Did DJ use his timeout previously? I don't recall a timeout at the end of the game?

No he didn't use his timeout tonight....he rarely does.

Only 11k at the game.....ugh! You are either selling hope or winning....right now neither is happening....clock is ticking on DJ.

We were in section 105 tonight, near the bench. I don't know how many times Brady came off the ice furious, no eye contact with DJ, no interaction with DJ. More players are tuning out DJ, writing is on the wall. DJ needs to lead on that bench, he does none of it. It was plain to see tonight.

All the players came out on the bench after the game in their workout gear to watch the Alfie ceremony, no sign of any of the coaches though. Surprised how few fans stayed to watch it.

Problem is who comes in...No experienced coach will come in for the balance of the season as the team is up for sale.... new owners will want their own personnel in place...

I want DJ gone badly, but don't see us getting an experienced coach as a replacement

This is a very good point, but you'd have to think it would be hard to turn down another shot in the big show for a Vigneault, Trotz or Martin. Trent Mann could get tapped - he's not exactly turning heads in Belleville right now but if you're correct and an experienced coach won't come in with an impending sale, you figure any change might help to right the ship.

Brannstrom has looked pretty sharp quarterbacking these PP minutes.
- Bartacus

I thought so too. The pp looked good. Yet another snakebit night. Against a goalie who made some great saves.

What is this, like the 8th game where they lose by one if u don't count the en goal?

Lots of moving pieces. Vigneault or Julien arent great with young players. Trotz forget it....Jacques could be a good coach to step in, until the team sells as he is only a consultant in Kingston. Mann, would be better served stepping in as an assistant. This team doesn't need a coach learning the NHL....the one guy that I know PD kicked tires on in the summer is Rick Tocchet. He is working at TNT and considering how great he was with a young team in AZ, he would be a great fit.

5th backup goalie this team has faced in their last 10 games. They need results now....DJ cant make in game adjustment to save his life. He has a skilled team dumping and chasing the puck. Cut the cord. Check my Twitter feed folks. No way they can take this current coaching staff to Cali and Vegas if they lose the next 2 at home.

It was evident on TV tonight that Brady and others seem not engaged at all with DJ. On a few instances, Brady looks so pissed and wants nothing to do with DJ. Many have said it on here, but Giroux does more coaching at the bench or on the ice between TV timeouts than DJ.

Look, does anyone else see how defeated these players look on the bench? 1-7-1 in their last 9 games. Losing does that to you, no leadership with this coach. Dorion needs to stop with the I'm loyal to DJ crap, he needs to be loyal to the players. This team has checked out with DJ.

6 PP chances, one almost for 4 min. No creativity, no urgency, zero results, what a surprise. Sure they scored 5 on 3, but this game was there for the taking on special teams alone. This coaching staff continues to fail these players.

First live game for me since Covid. Really entertaining. I thought the Sens could have won.

Three players jumped out at me all night. Stutzle is electric, unbelievable ice vision. Needs to improve on his decision making and net drive. Often the shortest distance (straight line) is the best option. He is producing a point a game pace and still has not grown into the full range of his talents.

Both Pinto and Sanderson are very cool customers. They have the kind of ice presence that wins you championships.

Like this team even more than I thought I did.

Maybe sticking around for the Conor Bedard sweeps may not be the worst option.

I wouldn't take Bedard if I had the choice. I'd take Fantilli. I watched Bedard at the world juniours and thought he was a very one dimensional player. With him it's all about his quick release fooling young goalies. Fantilli is the complete package: big, mobile, deceptive and plays a mature 200 foot game.

Anyway it won't matter because the Sens are too good as you have indicated and are not going to get to pick either one of those guys; but it's supposed to be a deep draft year so they will get a good prospect.

I so wish they would have held on to Paul and Brown and it makes me dislike this GM more and more every time I think about it. Imagine having a bottom 6 with Pinto, Brown, Paul and Kastelec in the mix for years to come. Then you add guys like Greig and Boucher. Yeah I thought there were going to be a few parades in Ottawa before 2030.

How does everyone feel about a Josh Norris for Seth Jones or EK65 deal? My thinking is the top 9 is set with Grieg waiting in the wings.

Otherwise I says the sens try to address right d via free agency.

And sign Zub already

The pieces are here. This is a really good team when measured in terms of the component parts. But, two year olds seldom have the stamina to race against a seasoned field.

I can be patient for another year.

I would be more than happy to do DeBrincat for Jones. Actually no I wouldn't. I'd prefer using DeBrincat to go after a piece they actually need like a top six LW. I wouldn't take Jones even if he was offered for free. We have our top 4 D with Chabot, Sanderson, JBD and Zub unless PD finds a way to lose Zub.

Not sure what happened last night from a fan perspective. The team advertised that well for an "Alfie" evening. Free parking in two lots, cheap tickets. Free refills on the commemorative Alfie tumblers. 11K is generous.......very.

Maybe it was the time of day? People still at work etc etc?

I dunno. Maybe it was the opponents. The Islanders certainly didn't win that game. The Sens lost it. They have every opportunity to win. The Isles play simple one line hockey, get the lead, shut you down. Barzal was invisible.

For those saying "another back up goalie". The Isles don't have one. They have two starters. And they're both very good. It's how they can play this dumb style of hockey.

I thought Sanderson looked very good. I was ripping on Holden for his give away but more and more, the getting out of our zone thing looks like it's on the wingers. They are given the puck by the D along the wall, make a play and get out of the zone. Nope. It cycles back into our end again.

Lots of talk on TSN about the ineffectiveness of the PP. They really need to replace Chabot on the PP with Sanderson or Brannstrom on the point as was demonstrated last night.

Finally they're starting to realistically evaluate DeBrincat's performance. Thank god.

The Sens have always had attendance issues on weekday games but a Monday 5:30 pm game start time was a recipe for disaster. Probably one of the least popular games when tickets went on sale as it was hard to know why the game was at 5:30 pm. I didn’t realize they were trying to incorporate the HOF speech after the game until recently. Folks likely thought it was just a random time and chose other games.

Second, I was offered tickets to Mondays game but declined as I work until 5:30 pm and it’s an hour drive to the CTC for myself. I feel a lot of working folks on a Monday were in a similar situation and the timing just didn’t work out. 7 pm games are difficult enough on work nights.

Thirdly, I get the sentiment of wanting to watch the HOF festivities after a game, but I am surprised, they did it this way. I think everyone knows it’s hard to keep butts in the seats in Ottawa once the game is close to being over. Even after dramatic wins, fans in this city race for the exits.

Is what it is really, should not put a damper on the great night for Alfie and his family.
