You adapt, put your players in a position to succeed by using their strengths. It's wild what Vegas is doing with their goaltending. No Lehner or Brossoit.

I’ve said this quite alot in this blog, but I talk to so many Canadian hockey fans, they all can’t believe this coach still has a job. He is a cone of silence behind the bench. I bet against the Sens tonight, no way DJ Smith makes adjustments, same thing from this man for three years lol. I feel for Sens you deserve better behind the bench

So far the Sens have been the better team. The D is playing well. They have their top 4 D when Chabot and Zub get back so no need to squander assets trading for one.

Chabot, Sanderson, Zub and JBD works for me. Brannstrom is fine on the third pairing with either Hmaonic or Holden.

They have guys like Thomson and Kleven coming.

Looking good.

Agreed, especially if it involves spending draft assets. Hamonic hasn't been horrible, and when fully healthy there's no reason to believe this team can't keep it's head above water. The issues so far are largely injuries, terrible puck luck, and systems. It's nice to see the Sens standing toe to toe with a performing systems team for a change, especially with our top 2 D out.

Now let's hope we can eke out a win for #11.

The isles defence system is really strong this game. Their sticks are active and are not letting the Sens have high quality chances up close. Would be nice to see the Sens adjust and try more point shots for some dirty tips.

Sigh. That was too bad, it was a well played game considering the depleted blue line. Nice to see the shot totals at parity for a change.

This is a good team. Much better than their record shows. I can't remember ever seeing an entire team snakebit for so many games. They should have won this game just like they should have won a few others. They were the better team tonight.

By the way if that was Chabot trying to make that blue line pass to Giroux resulting in the empty net goal we would never hear the end of it. Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot endlessly. I wonder if anyone other than me will point out that it was a stupid play to make by Sanderson.

Agreed on Sanderson. As for your comment about they're better than record shows.....that is what happens when you get mediocre coaching. Brian Burke used to say a great coach can notch a team an extra 7-8 wins minimum per year. Unfortunately, that ain't happening with this current coaching staff. This is also on PD though, he needs to recognize that the talent is there, but they truly aren't being deployed properly. How many more times do we need to see dump and chase with the skill on this team?!

Agreed. Eventually Thomson needs to get reps, he has more foot speed than Hamonic and a great shot too.....plus a ton cheaper which will help the cap this summer when re-signing guys.

Did DJ use his timeout previously? I don't recall a timeout at the end of the game?

The other problem is, there is no urgency in the Sens game, but that is on the coach. They need to initiate and dictate.....but they rarely do. PD cant waste another season.....with this talent. The fans and the players deserve far better. If they lose all 3 on this mini homestand....DJ and the whole staff need to be replaced....they were losing when the team was healthy....so I don't want to hear that there are injuries now.
