Well who was the top Tanker tonight for the Hawks, think Kane and Caleb both gave it a good run .To be fair though I think it was a true team effort with a tip of the hat to the PP . GO Hawks !!

Tanking because you truly are bad (but actually not too bad). Better than last season, right? Due to the coaching more than anything else

Well nowadays conspiracy theories is all the rage and whether there is some (emphasis some) truth to SOME of them or not, I don't know how you can make ping pong balls more in one team's favor

So just remember Tank job or not, it is much like real life when there is no evidence. No one caught bringing ballots in late or anything at all but pure luck of the draw.

The only tank job I see actually is more a matter of when - how soon - much of the roster KD inherited is blown up.

As long as former players put up more points than the Hawks have, people will complain. What I still don’t understand is the constant gnashing of teeth when everyone and their mother knew exactly what this season was going to be. We don’t WANT them to be good this year.

The Hawks HAD all these guys on the team last year and they were still dog poop. Did they move some guys that were young and good? Yes, but that was the point. Start over from scratch, and build the team that you want going forward.

I just laugh every time I see someone post “McCabe sucks, or “Entwistle is an AHLer”. Yes! And that is the point.

- Chunk

I am the Entwistle is an AHLer guy. I just think that 3rd line with Lafferty and D!ckinson should have a faster guy with them. Maybe Reese Johnson. Or when Tyler Johnson comes back (soon) they drop Kurashev to the 3rd line. The Hawks would still be a bottom 5 team, but they would be more watchable.

Unfortunately I was at the game last night and it felt like when Tallon was the GM. The Centers then were Arkipov, Holmqvist and Smolinski which were probably better than Toews, Domi and Blackwell. Do you remember when Savard had Koci on the ice against Sakic at home? Last night, somehow, Richardson and the three other guys on the bench forgot to pull their goalie with 3 minutes to go and the Hawks showing their only push of the night. The coaches never adjusted the lines to get Kurashev away from Kane and try to make a game of it. Caleb Jones stopped skating and let Necas get a breakaway from center ice in the 2nd period but somehow wasn't benched and gave away the game with another bad play later. The UC event staff must know how bad the product is because they crank the music so loud between whistles that nobody can turn to the guy next to them to discuss anything. Jumping in the car after the game, the radio broadcast was talking about a TV show and not what we had seen. There is a woman broadcasting who if her name was Smith wouldn't be a mile from a microphone but somehow gives the same boring comments game after game. Nepotism or insestuousness? First time GM. First time Coach. Detroit and Buffalo are 10 years ahead of the Hawks on rebuilds and still can't make the playoffs. Someone gave me 4 tickets for last night but is there anyone on this board that would pay hard earned money to watch this?

That stuck out to me too. Like they had gotten a bit of a push going and finally opened the ice up but they never pulled the goalie? You could tell the players felt it too because with a minute left and the goalie still in the net all urgency just evaporated.

Also, does Patrick Kane even know his own goaltender's name? Not sure he ever stepped foot inside the D zone.

It's been mostly watchable up until last night. Pull the goalie? They could have played until midnight and not scored a goal. I give credit to LR for not even trying to pull the goalie as everyone could see what's the point. They had zero flow last night and that's miserable to watch. Embarrassing too.

Down 3 goals? Did you see what the PP did with the man advantage? LR didn't want to give the goalie a chance to score.

I have not been one to dump on any player on this team but this guy, Caleb Jones, is really starting to draw on my ire. Get rid of this guy when his contract is up. To hell how his brother feels about that. Unless we sign him to a 2-way deal to help Rockford ....Adios!

Patrick Kane is one of the top 5 Hawks of alltime and a certain 1st ballot HOFer. Even in at his best he was not a Selke candidate. With the exception of Iginla and Shanahan, who were power forwards who scored in front of the net, most guys lose it in their 30s. To me, Kane used to push the D back with his speed. He would make cross ice pasess or the spino move. He was magic. Now he gets 5 feet in the zone, button hooks and because the league is huge and fast, can't find a seam.

This is the NHL. Coaches and Players owe it to the fans to try and win every game. If he will not try to do everything to win, they can easily find someone who will. I did not understand the 1st time GMs rush to hire Richardson. To me, Richardson was a first round flop who played 1,400 forgetable NHL games and was a minus machine every year except when he was riding Lindros's coattails in Philly. As a coach in Binghampton, I don't recall a lot of developing. Perhaps you can credit him for 50 games with Mark Stone and JG Pageau, but not much came out of 2 full season's there well under .500. I watched 2 full practices at 5/3rd a couple of weeks ago and I saw a lot flow but not a lot of battle which surprised me. Also the only guy taking a knee between each drill was #19. Greatest leader in Hawks history for sure but past his expiration date.

Embarrasing. He is not physical. He doesn't add much on offense. Gives up on plays. Doesn't fight. Minus machine everywhere he has played.

He must feel pretty comfortable. Laid that egg in front of a huge Monday night crowd. Had the Canes pinned. Actually got the puck to the net and another guy in front of the net could pushed the puck over the line. I was watching the bench. None of the coaches were looking at the goalie. Bad sign he is giving up 15 games into his Hawk career. Probably won't be a long one.

Well 6628, they played like they are supposed to be playing. AA has dazzling moves but he can't control the puck well enough to get him over the top. The Hawks got plenty of chances in that third and a few good ones in the second, but a combo of good goaltending and players just not having enough skill to score- like a DCat or even a Strome could, kept it at 0.

J. Johnson, Tinordi, Khaira, R. Johnson and Katchouk wouldn't be able to be regulars on a strong team maybe not even crack the lineup.

Players like T. Johnson, T. Raddyish, AA and Domi wouldn't be regular top 6 players on a decent team.

The fact that they are .500 and in most game impresses me with the lineup they field. Once Kane, Toews, T. Johnson and others are traded away, this will be a tough team to watch for the rest of the year because we don't have any good prospects to watch and cheer for in the current lineup.

At least next year we might be able to watch fill-in-the-blank 2023 1st round pick (if he's good enough), Reichel, Korchinski, Allen, Vlasic, maybe Nazar.

I went to this same game in 2019, Toews and Kane can do nothing against this team. End of story.

Ya I think Dach ceiling is higher then Nazar or 3rd pick we will have to wait and see and Iknow there is no use crying about spilled milk. Guess I am a little ticked because I was excited when they drafted him, and feel he was totally mishandled
- oldduffman

He's also playing wing and there isn't any pressure. Caulfield (same draft and 12 spots lower is the superior player) and Suzuki really drive that line. He can be a pass first secondary player and have success there. He probably would have with the Hawks (on the wing not at center) if he was playing with Toews this year.

You draft a guy at the 3rd spot hoping for a centerpiece and the player isn't that. Plus it's his third year and you'd expect to see what he actually is at this point. Getting a top 15 pick and grabbing a player that fits the mold of player the new group wants was the right move.

Plus, they got a guy in Nazar has a high motor, excellent skater and lots of skill. And he's in a program that has produced NHL talent with a fairly reliable level of consistency. Dach certainly has a decent level of skill and moves well for a person of his size but I don't think you could mistake him for having a high motor.

I think that is one to be disappointed if Dach ever ends up driving his own line but at this stage he kind of is who we thought he was and those players are fairly easy to come across in free agency or via trade.

I don't think that is a realistic expectation on a team this poopty. He's there to score points at this stage and him going 100% with the potential trade value he has - I dunno that you can justify that.

Sure you can be a knuckle dragger and talk about integrity of the game and back in my day or whatever other platitude or cliche comes to mind but let's be realistic here.

I think Reichel gets packaged with something else to get another first either this year or next. If they thought he was NHL calibre - he'd be in the NHL.

K2 looks like he is flat out dominating and looked close to ready this past year. I would expect him to be on the roster next season.

To the 'Peg to play with his cousin? Toews goes with him in a big trade?

After your and Fatty's thoughts, agree here.

He's at over a PPG rate in the A but to show what that really means, Kero and Highmore have more points than Reichel.

I liked Nazar and was happy they drafted him. Too bad he is already on LTIR hopefully he makes a full recovery and can be a big part of the teams rebuild. Dach was mishandled in his short history with the HAWKS. I have been watching a lot of Canadian games of late and Dach looks like a different player. He is thriving under a solid coaching system he is being deployed in. It's sad he was not given a chance under a real coach in Chicago. I will need to live with it and move on and hope for the best for both players

Do not discount motivation as well. There were whispers of commitment issues (whether those were accurate or just pr) and the trade could have acted as a wake-up call as well. Proper deployment, supportive coaching, and additional motivation.
