Interesting that nobody brings up D. Strome’s game tonight. No points and a -3. A minus 8 for the season so far.
- LAHawk

I don't bring up Strome or DBC or any other players traded away as I am all for the rebuild .Trading away Dach at 21 years old after his troubled and short time here was a step backwards IMO . If you watch any of the Canadians games, he may be a winger, but he is playing hard at both ends of the ice. A good coach (and we have one now) can make a big difference in a young player development. I just feel we very well may have wasted a very fortuitist opportunity with Dach. Rebuild is great but everyone does not have to be a teenager. Dach trade = Worst rebuild ever. To Soon

Lol me too..... where did the JC support crew go? The Hawks, by all accounts have less talented players this year, with a better system in place, and low and behold better record.
- bhawks2241

Yep, they are on the cusp of Cup contention!!

You've said this a number of times. Why do you discount the fact that he tried to trade both of them at the TDL and got nothing substantial? Does getting a 6th rounder really make things any better?

They both are obviously not well thought of in the league, otherwise, they'd get actual NHL offers.

That's his schtick.

Why are we getting so worked up over a couple of players that we couldn't trade to any of 31 other teams because at their present output at the time wasn't worth their qualifying offers?

I hear you Duff, and I don't really disagree. My perspective is that I think you can find another Dach. They Hawks are going to have a crap ton of high picks and he'll be replaced soon enough. Plus, I think he would only work against a high pick this year.

Otherwise we have to argue over the new D pairs that don't matter, and no one wants that.

looks like Jack Johnson is getting top billing with C Jones tonight?

Pyotr Kochekov gets the start for the Canes.

For Elbows:

Andrei Svechnikov - Sebastian Aho - Stefan Noesen
Seth Jarvis - Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Martin Necas
Jordan Martinook - Jordan Staal - Jesper Fast
Paul Stastny - Jack Drury - Derek Stepan

Jaccob Slavin - Brent Burns
Brady Skjei - Brett Pesce
Max LaJoie - Jalen Chatfield

Lol what a great response. Where is JC right now? Coaching an AHL squad? Why did no one pick him up as an assistant coach in the NHL?

The guy he replaced in the AHL was hired to be a NHL assistant.

I was admittedly (and regrettably) one of them. I don't have the ability to see faults in a particular system. I just tend to want to give people the opportunity to implement their vision. At some point, you have to realize that what you are trying to do is just a bad idea. Seems he never did.

Most of us have no clue lol! I thought Strome was 100% going to become something here. That turned out well

Strome at least found his scoring touch and playmaking ability. He's not useless, it's just that he's quite a liability without the puck on his blade.

Sometimes players need a change of scenery. How many teams did it take before Ryan Hartman and Anthony Duclair started realizing their potential?

For Dach, they got the 13th pick and a 3rd round pick in return. Is Dach's ceiling better than what would be available at those picks?

I believe he's coaching the Canucks' AHL team. Time will tell if he ever gets another gig, but he is only, what, 23 years old?

Anyway, most of the "JC Lovers", as we were called, believed that JC was not the reason they stunk. He was A REASON they stunk, but not THE reason. I am interested in them becoming a Cup Contender again, so I wish they stunk a bit more right now.

I like the new guy, especially because he demands that the players play defense (JC was not able to accomplish that....King, too, for that matter).

JC was a classic example of the Dunning Kruger effect (look it up). And Stan wanted to show that he was the smartest guy in the room, by plucking his HC from the depths of Tier 2 Sweden. It was destined to be really bad.

That said, if JC puts his time in, in North America, and works his way up, learning along the way, he still has the chance to be a competent HC in the NHL. But he's got years to go.

BTW, the Abbotsford Canucks are currently 8th in the AHL Pacific.

If Boudreau gets the ax in Vancouver, maybe JC would be promoted to at least the interim position. Quite a feather in JC'S cap. Who else has replaced two of the winningest coaches in NHL history?

As Scottak said above, I think it would be in his long term interests to NOT get thrown into another situation like that again. Spend some time learning, and hope a situation arises that has a shot at success (at least a little). Vancouver immediately after whacking a coach would be tough, imo.

As I mentioned above, he better learn to demand some defensive responsibility or he won't have any success. Our new coach seems to have that ability, and I'm glad to see it.

not sure if it was mentioned here, but TOR is short D, Muzzin just got hurt and is out indefinitely. NHL Network just said it could be for the remainder of the season. TJ Brodie is also hurt.

How about sending them one of our vets?

Without question, worst game I've see in a long time. Play in their own zone is brutal, and when they did manage to get across their own blue line they couldn't hold on to a pass. What a waste of time watching this game.

Well who was the top Tanker tonight for the Hawks, think Kane and Caleb both gave it a good run .To be fair though I think it was a true team effort with a tip of the hat to the PP . GO Hawks !!

Ya I think Dach ceiling is higher then Nazar or 3rd pick we will have to wait and see and Iknow there is no use crying about spilled milk. Guess I am a little ticked because I was excited when they drafted him, and feel he was totally mishandled
