Unless Soshnikov is really going back to Russia or hoping to get claimed...I don't have the slightest idea what he's on waivers for. It wouldn't make sense to call up someone "exciting" (Raty/Bolduc/Dufour/etc...) from the AHL to just sit in the press box. Salo is already here as a 7th defenseman, so if it was a d-man they wanted to call up they could easily just send him down in a swap.

Maybe they think Hudson Fasching is a better 13th/14th forward than Soshnikov? I have no clue

At the same time how the hell don't you check in on him? Watching him in person the other night he looked fantastic and exactly what they could have used despite him dogging it back in OT on the game winning goal No cap space doesn't help though either

The kid has played with every winger on the team. I guess they are all Zamboni drivers. Maybe just maybe playing with Barzal isn't that easy?
I guess if he was making 8.5 per we wouldn't be having this decision I guess

Just because he has played with every winger on the team does not mean he isn't easy to play with with. It is more that they cannot keep up with his pace. And yes, when it comes to Barzal they are all Zamboni Drivers !!!! The only that really keeps up is AB but he cannot consistently finish.

I guess if he was making 8.5 per we wouldn't be having this decision I guess
If you are making him your top money guy that comes with a price and an expectation. They team put him in that role and he accepted. You can laugh all you want.

I know why they signed, I know why they paid him. But you cannot trade him now at his current price tag so you better find the talent to play with him.

Yep pretty good player too bad wally isn't hull. Barzal set wally up point blank last night and stone hands flubbed it again

Wally is the second coming of Bossey. He just needs a little tender loving care and to be understood. Count on it

Well we will agree to disagree for sure.

But let me get this straight. The Islanders couldn't trade Barzal now because of his contract? Dude what the (frank) are you smoking?

He is absolutely a 1c and the goals will come, Lane likes to run him out with the 4th line at times to get more offensive production especially when he gets in the zone like he does some games. Having Dobson able to rip it (and hit the net although not at 105mph) has made the pp much more formidable. Should add Brock ripping it on the side and Lee in front has really jump started it too but it mostly hinges on 13s set ups

Dobson passes the puck quickly too. He also switches his shooting angle quickly to get his shot through. I think Barzal and Dobson are going to create a lot of magic together for this team for years to come.

Well I was in Hershey last weekend for my Kids hockey team and I went to see the Bears/Islanders game on Friday and then watched a bit on Saturday. I really was hoping to be impressed by a lot of guys like Holmstrom, Raty, Koivula Ishkarov, etc... the only ones who looked Impressive to me was Fashing and Bardau.

I don't understand this. How is he better suited for wing? The guys is averaging a point per game and hasn't scored a goal yet, that's insane!! He is great with the puck and skates circles around everybody. He is your prototypical center IMO. When the season ends he'll be sitting around 20 goals or so. I think moving him to the wing would be a big mistake
- Vukota

He is terrible at face offs, he is not very good at back checking or defense in general. he doesn't block shots... all of those I see as a prototypical Center. Having him on the Wing would actually use his speed more b/c he would be generally closer to the blue line in the D-zone and as soon as you get possession he can take off.. This doesn't mean I am going to change anything he does on offense.

I don't think this and him being a Wing or Center are related. He will still be dynamic in O-zone and no matter what position he plays I think he will start scoring goals. I just like him as a wing better b/c I think of a Center probably more in a defensive capacity than some of you do.. it doesn't mean he can't create on Wing in O-zone.

You really think Lee is an average winger?
- Vukota

I recinded that and based on his pts he’s a great addition to any team. His skating is his weakness and that def doesn’t compliment Barzals style. I would like to see someone on barzals wing who can keep up

Hes not great at d but he's down low and battles and can skate it out which is huge. Faceoffs are terrible though
