Nobody is taking Bailey. If there anybody that wanted him he would’ve been gone already.

Neither do I was just stating he isn't a lock to stay in the lineup regardless of performance like he was with Barry. Guy has been a healthy scratch twice in 17 games already. How many times was he a healthy scratch under Trotz?

He is pretty much a top 6 forward on this team by default. The way he plays he is better suited for the 3rd line, hustles his arse off and like you said is flying all over the place can kill penalties but he really isn't a finisher. Wouldn't you say that's what a solid 3rd liner does? I get why he plays top 6 on this team but if they bought in a legit top 6 forward I would think Beau would be the one pushed down, him or Bailey if they were still both on the team.

If they bought in a top 6 winger one of the two would be gone.

They are just saving him for the postseason

Don’t disagree just stating a fact. If somebody would’ve taken him over the offseason he would be gone 1000 games or not if it meant improving the top 6.

It could be Wally but he barley has any cap hit so most likely one of Bailey or Beau would still have to go. I don’t see anyone else going as far as dumping cap.

If that's the cause I'd prefer to keep Beau as he's younger but thos organization likes Bailey and he's smart in the post season too

That was my point. Neither would still be in the top 6 and Beau is more suited for the 3rd line then Bailey who would be the odd man out IMO

Fire Lou!

I’m a fan of Lou but I just don’t understand the idea of locking up Barzal at 9 per and throwing average players on his line

There's only 3 guys I can see being moved, wally who's young and has potential. Beau who's a grinder with speed or Bailey who's older but plays a smart game. Be interesting to see what Lou does if anything

I'm not pushing for it, but I don't think it would be a mistake at all.

He stinks on the draw (35.5% so far this year ) and he's not exactly a defensive wizard. Moving to wing would take some of the defensive responsibility out of the game.

If they somehow (I know it won't happen) found a way to acquire a real good center like Horvat, I'd move Barzal to wing without thinking twice

- eichiefs9

I don't know man. Moving him to wing would mean less time with the puck on his stick and I'm not sure how that's good thing. You really want a guy on the top wing scoring 15 goals a year? I think getting somebody like Horvat would allow them to keep Nelson on Barzal's wing with Lee and then have a solid second line of Horvat Wahlstrom and whoever. You can alwyas have Pageau take important faceoffs when needed like they do now. I think Nelson would be the better winger then Barzal IMO

I agree with captain nobody would want Bailey without a sweetener, Beau is still young and cheaper then Bailey so they would probably include him in any deal for a top 6 upgrade

They all need a sweetener if you're gonna land a legit top 6 player

True. I think it would be less of a sweetener if Beau was included in a deal instead of Bailey is what I should have said

I still think they like Bailey here but the second healthy scratch does raise and eyebrow. Maybe he's banged up a bit I didn't see anything on why he was scratched

#Isles    Lane Lambert said he has no issue with way Josh Bailey has been playing. Wanted more physical presence in the lineup so he inserted Ross Johnston.

It amazing really. JT was here and they would go to the junk heap and get him a wing and they would be great. However Barzal needs elite talent around him? The kid is 3rd in the league in assists and has dominated a few games this year against the better talent. The zamboni drivers with him must be pretty good shots.
Barzal is tough to play with as he is definitely not a north south typical player.

I thought he played a solid game minus the dumb penalty. You can't take that kind of penalty at that point of the game. Surprised Lambert didn't bench him for a couple of shifts I like that he threw him right back out there even though he deserved whatever punishment was headed his way Also I know some on here don't believe intimidation is still a thing in this league but this is like the 3rd or 4th time Johnston has played against the Sens and in each game Tkachuk was quiet as a mouse with his mouth and wasn't running around like an idiot. I don't think that's a coincidence. Only problem is Johnston shouldn't be on the 3rd line. He is a 4th liner and 4th liner only.

That wouldn't be regular waivers though. That'd be unconditional waivers for a mutual termination of the contract.

Unless he's hoping to get claimed by a team where he could play a regular shift, maybe
