Doing all this while they are still getting to know Lane too... the bottom line is Lane has shown them that he isn't going to punish the younger players b/c they are young. the fact that he sat Bailey again is part of that... true accountability. If anything he is giving the guys like Beau, Wahlstrom, and even Aho a bit more rope to hang themselves b/c of how Trotz treated them the past couple of years.

My guess is once he establishes this a bit more he will sit a few of them once in a while too... as long as the players feel like they are being sat fairly b/c of their play he will not lose the room.

I guess what I am saying is I like the guy so far... I also love in that clip when he is talking to Wahlstrom .. Wally is nodding his head in agreement and engaged in the convo. He seems very coachable and I think he will just get better..

Aho seems to be getting better by the way. I still love Romanov but he is fairly slow so needs to be positionally sound. He is only 22 but there were a few terrible pinches that Varly had to bail him out.

Dobson's eleven regular season 5v5 goals since 12/1/21 is as many as Mo Seider (2) and Cale Makar (9) combined.

Or Letang (6), Kilngberg (3), Doughty (2).

What he's done thus far is shorten the bench. He see's whos got it that night, and then puts them together in certain situations. Makes for a more confident team, when you can hold leads by loading up defensive forwards to finish a game.

What they need to do is tighten up the penalties. They were on the PK for half of the second period. Thats not a recipe for success, and it keeps the "scorers" off the ice (cough cough Barzal).

Got a kick out of Isles twitter all blaming Beau on the Giroux goal b/c Butch blamed him... https://www.nhl.com/video...ux/t-335500744/c-13753473

So Beau who is on the forecheck in the beginning of this play.. And was the 4th guy back into zone... Was somehow responsible for "losing Giroux" despite Lee and Mayfield colliding? When you see the replay from behind the net you can see Beau going full speed to get back on forecheck and Brock not skating at all while Lee crashes into Mayfield.

Kind of a cherry-picked date to go off of, but still...

Isles Since October 26th, among NHL teams:

- Most wins (9)
- Most points (18)
- Most goals (38)
- Most SOGs against (376)
- Most 5v5 goals (25)
- Most 5v5 SOGs for (287)
- Most 5v5 SOGs against (299)
- Best 5v5 save % (.956)
- Most games played (11)

I saw this on Twitter and I don't like arbitrary dates but the shots against are the issue as they are forcing their goalies to do a lot of heavy lifting by creating on offense. I guess thats a good reason to have two legitimate keepres though

Definitely need to see some better shot suppression, but I think a lot of that comes from the fact that they've been pretty sloppy with getting the puck out of the zone. They looked half retarded last night trying to get the puck out of their own end for most of the game.

Dobson ties Byfuglien with 22 goals before turning 23 years old. One behind Hedman, two behind Burns, three behind Weber. Roughly eight weeks of games left for Dobson. Might pass them all.

Pretty good company, for 6'4"+ defensemen.

I know you're a big beau guy, but he has been downright awful all year. He is the next to sit and it has nothing to do with the play you mentioned above. The guy is a turnover machine with hands made of cement. Sucks I had high hopes for this guy but he is looking more and more like a bottom 6 forward.

Could be a result of the new system too but breakouts need to be cleaner

Do you move him for a piece or keep him to replace a 3rd liner like Parise who doesn't have a ton left in his career? He doesn't fit in the top 6 for me and when you add wally and Bailey well someone needs to be replaced out of the 3. It won't be Bailey imo

He’ll now go on a five game scoring streak just to go into oblivion right after for fifteen games.

Only untouchables as far as I'm concerned is Barzal, Dobson, Pelech & Sororkin. Everybody else should be available if the trade makes sense for the Isles.

I don't know man, he has been scratched twice already in the first 17 games. I don't think he is a lock to stay in the lineup like he was under Barry. Not saying he will be the first to be dealt but I wouldn't exactly rule it out either.

He drives me crazy because at times he looks like the 1st rd pick that he is and then goes long stretches looking like an undrafted journeyman

He is a playoff performer, so there's that. But I agree...when he's on, he's on, but he's just a non-factor on way too many nights. It's not even that he's noticeably bad, he just doesn't make any kind of impact at all for really long stretches.
