Not easy to root for to me. Lacking talent. Eventually it will show and back to the same results the last decade. Stuck in mediocrity. Makes it east to root against.
Just curious where are you getting there is interest in the team? Just your take?
-furio16
Yes the team lacks talent but they are a good group of players that are playing hard, that to me is something easy to root for. Of course I would like to see the Flyers give themselves the best chance to get into the top 3, but to be honest when I am watching these games, the competitor in me is rooting hard for the Flyers to win, and I am happy when they win, and equally upset when they lose. To answer your question I don't have any hard metrics that indicate interest is up or down compared to last year, so its mostly just my take. However I will point out it seems like the barn was packed last night and the crowd energized, and that was nice to see. |

I think the key is there in interest in this team overall. This team is very easy to root for. They play hard, they play for each other and they try each and every night, which is a far cry from what they have been the past 2 seasons. In the end water finds its level and though this team may not be the worst team in the Metro, they probably will not make the playoffs. That being said being a bubble team, which could happen especially if Couts and Atkinson come back close to 100%, really hurts the franchise overall, especially this draft year. - jd250

Bill Meltzer: Wrap: Flyers Earn 5-1 Win over St. Louis - bmeltzer
Unpopular opinion. I think Nick D and Zach MacEwen deserve to be here and I’m fine with them being here.
Also I thought Ristolainen responded well to his healthy scratch. Solid game by Cates, wanting more from Frost.
I think Provorov deserves a letter. |

It is the NHL so excuse me for not being impressed with the playing hard mantra. The playing hard nonsense this franchise stuffs down fans throat hasn’t won anything in close to 50 years.
A sick part of me is also glad they are winning as it ensures the same end of season result they have achieved the last decade plus. Would be awesome to see them in the playoff “picture” come the deadline and they make some short sighted moves.

All points make sense to me. MacEwen has played well. He forechecks. Best way to help the d os to forecheck effectively and he does that. No one is delusional about his abilities. He’s a 4th line guy that you move up once in while. 44 as well. He has played well. Unpopular opinion here, but the reality is both have been good thus far and have been part of the solution.
Also, why wouldn’t I want my coach to believe they can make the playoffs?
Having success is good for the youth on this team.

Wasn't flawless but still really good. There's still a part of me that's waiting for the bottom to fall out. - Pelle31Forever
Totally agree.
I watched that third period thinking, what's going to happen to screw this up for Felix.
Somehow, with glue, paperclips and bubble gum Torts is holding this team together playing, dare I say ok?

There is no evidence that McEwen is an effective forechecker. Neither has been good and both really shouldn't be full time NHL players. They're a significant reason for why this team won't be a good team.

Something very weird is going on with Atkinson. They could have put him on IR in order to bring up Ersson, but chose to demote Zamula instead. He's been on the active roster all season despite getting nowhere near playing a game. Maybe this injury he has, isn't technically an injury...

If he forechecks so well why does he get crushed in shot attempts? The best way to help the D is to keep the puck out of the D Zone, and that is not what happens with MacEwen on the ice.

It's gotta be something mental. Or migraines, maybe. Someone here suggested vertigo. I could see that, too. |

cant argue, even on Zac and I have complained about him, currently, they have earned their way. RR did play better, torts hits again. Of course, all teams go through losing spells, that is when we will see what we really have.

Listened to the Cam & Strick podcast from Monday. They interviewed Eustace King, Mitchell Miller's agent. There is A LOT of info that none of us knew yesterday during our discussion on the topic. Here's a link to learn more about what is true and what is not with this situation.

See that's it. The competitor in me wants the Flyers to win and unlike the past few seasons, even when the Flyers don't win the games are usually entertaining. But as a fan that is looking at the big picture, this team winning too much this year is not a good thing because as you mentioned it invites false optimism and even worse may drive some more short-sighted moves to try to get this team into the playoffs. I will reiterate what is best for this team, this year, is to end up near at the bottom of their division and give themselves a good chance to land a high end player. |

It was a mixed bag for New Jersey last night. The Devils won again, but that NJ guy running for Senate in another state lost. |

But you understand this is the perspective of the players agent, who will say and do anything to get the player signed, right? |
