Yeah Wahlstrom hasn't looked great lately. I honestly get the feeling that he's as dumb as a brick. I think he's a much better player than Bellows is but I also think he's got two brain cells that are fighting each other for third place

He just reminds me of every rom-com jock sterotype. An athletic meathead with no brain

He does have that look to him. Knuckle head.

He was always going to be a bit of project, he's only 22 and 22yo's being as good as Dobson are pretty rare. I like him overall so far and he really hasn't been a major liability despite getting top-four minutes (he's actually 2nd overall in TOI/GP at even strength)

Definitely room to improve, which is a good thing, but I still like the trade and his game overall.

Massive upgrade from greene and Chara if only cause of his skating

He's absolutely an upgrade over those two. It's amazing what happens when you don't have 1/3 of your defenseman have to go glass-and-out to get the puck out of the zone because they can't do anything else

It should have been matching penalties, because any adult male with hair like Zibanejad's deserves to be locked inside a box

Greene was good for us up till last year, was smart and in position but time caught them both in a young fast game. I think being able to get out of our zone quicker makes all the difference in the world as the forwards aren't gassed to the point where all they can do is dump and change. It's an easy game to play in the other teams d zone

Yeah I didn't hate Greene, I just think he didn't have the skill to make a tough outlet pass or exit the d-zone with possession himself. Chara was mostly atrocious.

Chara was washed but perhaps the silver lining is he mentored Dobson. Dobson is unreal and he may not be fox but he's also going to get a few Norris votes although not a finalist

I'll give lambert credit, he started soshnikov with barzal and ended that experiment pretty quick. All soshnikov did was panic with the puck and dump it

Yeah Soshnikov stinks. He honestly looked solid to me in preseason and then it all fell apart

I assume like most young defensemen he'll have his peaks and valleys. But even during a down-period he hasn't been a problem. Could definitely be better but it's a good sign that when he's not playing well things are still pretty OK.

I think down the line he becomes kind of a super-Mayfield for us

unrelated edit: I'm liking Aho's game a little more. He's clearly always going to be a defensive liability but he's playing well in the offensive zone. He's probably not an ideal long-term solution but that's a good dynamic to have on the 3rd pair as long as they can mitigate the level of talent he's out there against

I had noticed Aho not pissing me off lately so that’s definitely a plus.
