How do you let in that goal?

Weak goal! Last year Forsberg stole games for Ottawa, neither goalie has this year, that's a problem.

Especially when the D is average, plus no real defensive structure!

Enjoy the 2nd and 3rd periods. I am meeting up with friends to watch both the Sens game and the Thursday night football game. I will be back after both in the comments and will post a blog late tonight.

That 2nd goal was weak. Last year Forsberg stole a few games, they need Talbot or Forsberg to steal a game here soon!

Forsberg has played a few games lights out this season that we should have won. Considering the chances our blue line gives up I am surprised they've been so competent.

Bonehead penalty by Chabot.

Had an opportunity to win it on the pp.

Devils showed us how it’s done in 5 seconds.

Had their 3rd string in the net and STILL couldn’t win.

Done put that on Chabot. Pinto blasted the puck wide bouncing the puck out the other side. If you're going to shoot hit the net.

Devils didn't put their weakest players out on their PK. Smith goes with Hamonic, Holden and Motte. What is friggin Smith smoking?

Chabot is in dangerous territory in my opinion. He has consistently been one of the worst d-men on the team this season. This isn't even scapegoating the guy. It's a fact that he has been awful. Can't shoot, looks slow, can't create plays, can't defend, and has shown now shown lack of discipline. 8 million dollars per season

The Hamilton goal was a great example of what the Sens lack right now. A booming shot from the point. Teams don't respect the blue line on the power play and it makes it much easier to defend.

DJ needs to go. I am not sure why you wouldn't have one of your better face off guys out in OT on the PK. The players look lost and confused out there. Zero structure and relying on the big forwards to score goals to try and bail out the team. Even in the timeout before the OT power play, Giroux was doing most of the talking. Get a competent coaching staff in there and try to salvage the season.

It's friggin sickening. That was Pinto's stupid miss the net shot. It's hockey 101. Don't miss the net or you put your D in a bad spot.

As far as those supposed brilliant saves the NJ goalie made at the end nonsense. Weak shots by Tkachuk two times and the Stutzle shot was no big deal either.

When folks point out Chabot's error, you proceed to blame some other player. The funny part is, the common denominator is Chabot.

Pinto has to hit the net. Debrincat had to hit the net on the PP too in OT after he missed and the puck sailed the other way. Of course.

However, in what world is the penalty that Chabot took an ok play?

There was a play where he waited, which felt like minutes, behind the Sens net to start a breakout, only to pass it right to Jersey.

All season long, he cannot figure out how to shoot or pass quickly while in the attacking zone. It's sometimes like watching a player in slow motion.

He's consistently made defensive miscues all year long.

While he is not alone on the backend being subpar, he's making 8 million, an assistant captain, and tabled a franchise d-man. Frankly, we need better play from him. DJ's coaching obviously is not helping, but at a certain point, the player needs to be better. Guys like Sanderson, Giroux, Brady, Stu, etc have been ok despite poor coaching. Why can't Chabot?

I guess if Chabot was out there, they would have won.

Notice how he wasn't out there on the PP even with the evil coaching staff who never let him off the ice. Quite telling.

Now the geniuses on the post game are saying that the reason DeBrincat isn't scoring is because the team is not setting him up properly.

Pinto earned the right to shoot that puck. Even with it going around the boards why does Chabot gotta pull his man down like that? It was a dumb penalty no matter how you look at it.

He simply has to put the puck in the net. He’s getting grade A opportunities.

Was good defensively tonight..but God score!!!

It's friggin sickening. That was Pinto's stupid miss the net shot. It's a 4 on 3. You're moving in on the attack and Pinto blasts the puck wide of the net which is a massive mistake because now the NJ forward has got the momentum going the other way and Chabot is wondering WTF did you do and is scrambling to try and turn around to try and catch the NJ forward you've just set up with a break away. I like Pinto but that was his stupid miss the net shot.

Hey here's a great idea! Put Chabot on waivers. No one will take him because he's no good and not worth the 8 million and send him down to Belleville where maybe they won't scratch him. Who needs that bum Chabot. You've got Sanderson and Brannstrom and Hamonic so you're all set.

The penalty is magnified because it led to the goal.

If pinto hadn’t tied the game at 3-3, the 3rd goal forsberg let in would’ve been magnified.

I think we all know how valuable Chabot is to the teams success. If he’s not on his game, then the team is gna sink because there’s no one else who does what he does.

But you can’t honestly tell me his play up till now has been great can you? At most he’s been a C level dman.

And yes, the rest of our d (outside of Sanderson) have been pretty bad, but we shouldn’t expect this from our #1 qb, pp, minute logger who’s also the highest paid dman on this roster.

Simply put, the whole team needs to be better, especially the highest paid players.

Shane pinto should not be leading this team in goals

How many times over the years have I seen an attacking forward on the PP wire the puck only to miss the net after which the defending team catches the attackers off guard and ends up with a break and goes down and scores. The announcers always say the same thing - "If you're going to shoot the puck in that situation you better make sure you hit the net."

Chabot is caught off guard as anyone would be and has two choices - take the man down or let him go in all alone on a break. I say take the man down. By the way Chabot had played 32 minutes at that point and had not been on the ice for any of the goals against.

Once you have the penalty to kill every coach in the world all the way down to bantam puts out their two best face off guys in case one gets waved out with the third guy being a top defender; but not this coach. This coach is too clever for that. How many face offs has Motte taken in his entire career?

Pinto decided to hot dog it in front of his friends and family and blasted that puck wide of the net and caused Chabot to have no choice but to take the penalty and Smith decided to rewrite the hockey books on how to defend a 4 on 3 with 45 seconds left in overtime.

I thought it was a great game. Sens played well. Devils are a nice team.

Loved Timmy and Brady shouting at one another with Giroux looking on like a frustrated baby sitter.

Maybe we have another year to go before it all comes together.

If they play like that for the rest of the year, we should be happy.
