I am not totally blaming the goalies, they actually have been one of the bright spots. But Comrie and his rebound control all season has been bad. And the defense has hurt them, that's on Adams and his Isolationist mind set right now. Goaltending has probably won them 3 or 4 games. They need improvement on all 3 levels. Samuelsson alone isn't gonna help that, they need a partner for Power, Joker isn't it. And they need a couple more finishers, they have to many of the same type players.

I think the dude went to Carter Hutton's ophthalmologist he loses the puck so much.

For as much of a black hole goaltending was last year, and how little they did about it in the offseason, goaltending has been fine.
- buffalofan19

Yeah, I agree. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see UPL for a few games here and there. They have 2 lines they can put together Skinner Tallness Tuch JJ Cozens Quinn everything else is wish wash, same types of players. What do you want out of this year, do you give Rosen, Weissbach, Biro, Kulich, Rousek looks at some point. Some of those players actually might fit Donnie's system better and might actually help with evaluating players for next year. Jesus Christ they can't handle a couple, what are they gonna do when they have a dozen, and it could hit that number in 2yrs.

My buddy wants lindell, thinks he would be available/ forced move . What type of trade/ players would the Sabres need to acquire him?
- Boss34

I think at this point, you could get Rian Lindell for free.

Glad we sat Quinn for Krebs

If I see that happen again im plugging my a$$ right behind Granato and chirping the shhh out of his dumb ass decisions

- DirtyDan

I feel like they knew they had 1 too many forwards and set up a plan rotating them in and out and are just sticking to it.

Hopefully performance changes that plan soon.

Mittlestadt has had a couple good games in a row, but krebs has been invisible. Hopefully Quinn just never sits again.

That will never happen.

Duclair may become available when he comes back from ltir. Zito will have to make a maneuver(s) before Duclair can be activated.

Yet you've missed out for years.

Over the summer I calles Krebs, Cozens and Mitts the 3 stiffs. I said Cozens is the only one who will break out or had a chance to. Looks like I hit the nail on the head there too.

I'm trying to see where my assessment is off. I gave Adams credit for the Tage contract immediately. In fact, I said it was a great, not good, deal.

The specifics in your posts are just not there. The expected specifics say you're awesome of course, but the actual specifics are no where to be found.

- lacaprup

Cozens breakout season was obvious if you believed the fancy stats.

Imagine that

I was also the only poster, or one of two, who said Tage had 20 goal potential in the NHL when everyone thought they should send him to Cincy and end the experiment.

What makes next year Different?

instead of 3 prospects to develop and evaluate you are going to have 5-7.

Youā€™ll have more players that you will ā€œblockā€ if you acquire talent.

Two years from now, same thing. More prospects to evaluate, no room for outside roster additions.

- ImThatGuy

What makes next year different, or the year thereafter different is nothing, hopefully. I hope they have 2 - 3 guys worthy of being called up for evaluation each year, meaning they are pushing hard to make the jump and challenging the existing rostered players. I hope that continues for 5 years.

Now, 13 games in is hardly long enough IMO to make final evaluations, however we can begin to think about the 1st Quarter grade.
I am concerned with Krebs being a top 6. He might become a good 2 way 3C as a set-up guy. If he is a top 6 player, he needs to begin to up his game on a steady incline.
Mitts looks like he is settling in also as a 3rd liner.
Peterka shows promise, but is slowing down lately. Seems like a 2nd liner...would be good to see him bury some more goals.
Power is coming along, has a way to go for sure, but progressing at a very young age for Top 4 D
I still think Olofsson, Joker, Krebs/Mitts and Bryson are all trade bait unless they show alot more.
Another evaluation so far IMO is the veteran leadership by Okposo and Girgenson and Tuch is overplayed, they need to lead not be nice nice friends ... challenge the team, throw down the gauntlet.

You can honestly blame the entire team.

Besides Dahlin. Everyone else has sucked for a majority of the year

Iā€™m out of touch ? Buddy you shoot like 20% from the floor. The only guy you have bragging rights over for takes on this board is Boss, if anyone.

The Sabres are running a cap floor team, have the youngest roster in the league, and are playing about dead even at even strength since the last time they made the playoffs.

This is an average hockey team that although wonā€™t make the playoffs as currently constructed, will play entertaining games down the stretch.

Feel free to meltdown every day on this blog though and call into WGR every other morning like a pubescent teenage girl because you canā€™t see the progress being made here.

Just because you seek instant gratification and define success as playoff or bust this year, yet canā€™t see the majority of the core is under the age of 23 and the Sabres have a very bright intermediate future, isnā€™t a me problem.

Im still waiting for you to tell me what I've been wrong about.

Where is Peyton Krebs breakout?

Our amateur GM and his trash staff are sitting on their hands while another season ends in November. (frank) a bottom pair depth d man. Why can't this amateur trade for Karlsson? Why hasn't he traded for or acquired a goalie in 2 years who can stop a puck? He has a roster with one forward, one, who is willing to check a defenseman into the boards on a forcheck, and he generally falls over when he does it. Almost all the offense on the team funnels through Dahlin and Thompson. Imagine some of the point toals out there if they didnt get easy assists on our reliable Dahlin QBed PP. And, the best part is, we've got clones of all of these Tiny Dancers in the minors.

Amateurs can trade players who have forced their way out. Amateurs can offer team friendly deals to youngsters who have yet to establish their NHL reputations. Amateurs can draft Owen Power #1 over all.

Amateurs may find it hard to sign Rasmus Dahlin long term as he endures another season done before the new year.

Amateurs obviously find it impossible to break a love affair with any of their prospects to acquire players to help the core moving forwards.

Amateurs, and I find this one particularly useful in identifying an amateur, cannot identify their core players almost half way into a 5 year plan. Thus, an amateur gets stuck with his franchise goalie playing like a franchise goalie for the Boston Bruins. And, finally, an amateur wouldn't care about any of that because in 2 years a college kid is going to come in and save the day (assuming he ever becomes a Sabre).

What, again, is the 5 year plan? What does victory look like at the end of 5 years? 92 points and a wildcard spot? Hell of a 5 year plan.

And, of course, none of this touches the fact we have the 2nd worst fan experience in the NHL. Bravo, Kevy, bravo.

Houser is the only goalie on the ice for the Amerks for warmups.

Beck Warm has been called up from Cincy as well .. most likely not here yet and there is an EBUG serving as the backup.

hmmm.. is Luukkonen going to be suited up with the Sabres tomorrow?

Paul Hamilton said he missed the Eichel breakaway save because the media elevators were broken so he had to go and take the stairs.

Someone here said the escalators were not working.

The escalators are a w/e, but broken elevators are really embarrassing. The whole arena is a throwback to the cheapest engineering standards of the 1990s, and with no inherent charm whatsoever.

Nice of them to tighten the screw on the beer drinkers last night. I've always advocated for zero alcohol sales on kids day games. I wonder if that'll happen? That would cost money.

Edit: apprarantly there were some nasty cheers last night. Lots of vulgar ones.

Terry and Kim should ban alcohol sales for a month of sober reflection.
