A few extra 2nd rounders would be helping a lot right now.
- Retinalz

Like Lind, Gadjovich, Woo, Hoglander are helping? Demko is doing a good job. Don't really know who they would have picked or if they would actually be helping with the 2nds that were traded away. Odds not really in favour, that they would be helping.

It probably would have been worth a try vs what they did.

Maybe that could be the next course of action to go along with some more painful years of watching the team play.

I get what you are saying but I am not sure Frankie looks that far down the road and here is why I say it.

They make a hell of a lot of money selling out each game selling merch and vending out expensive beer and hot dogs. Even though they miss the playoffs they still are raking in tons of money.

Tanking and playing in an empty arena not selling merch and concessions with no playoffs for three years probably does not appeal to owners.

I think they look at this as make money while you can.

- VANTEL

I don't doubt that. If fans were going to show up while the team tanked, maybe he would go for it. How many analysts have said Van fans couldn't handle that.

Riley Stillman.

100% odds he makes it since he's already in the league, I'd offer a 1st round pick since that only has like 50% odds of being a NHL player

Don't we have a couple 2nd round picks we traded that turned into decent players/someone picked a few spots after turned out? Not saying they would all turn out, but the players we traded for didn't turn out either.

EDIT: Woo is also having a pretty good season right now

Why the Canucks so much, not very good sellers.

I don't know why it says that. I feel like my words got switched.

Ron Delorme doesn't work for Calgary.

There is always a few good/decent 2nd rounders. Canucks haven't picked many of them though

They took the chance, picked a few, traded away a few and lost them all pretty much.

Get a better GM Professional and amateur scouting staff as well.

Delorme, Gradin and Chibisov seem to be the 3 longest serving Canucks amateur scouts. I'd say it's time for a change with the way the Canucks have drafted over the years.

What would it have looked like? All the NTC's weren't going anywhere. The team was already poop and drafting high.

A trade or two less and the Canucks fortunes could be different? I didn't love 50% of what Benning did but I'm not also the green is always greener on the other side because we say that about every coach and ever GM and 1/4 of the players that are brought in and poop seems to be no different.

Anyone that doesn’t prefer Dobson over hughes is a (frank)ing homer clown. Are you a clown? 🤡

No but you have proven yourself to be over the years. So maybe your statement is backwards.

Got to take dog for a walk before game starts. Go Canucks go!

Maybe. Maybe I’m high on 🛁 🧂 🤷‍♂️. Dobson has the potential to be a unicorn. A big, mobile 1 RHD without a weakness in his game. Quinn needs stilts to compete

There is not a defenseman in the league that completes more passes than Hughes. I'm not saying Dobson wasn't the right choice, I wanted him as well, but Dobson needs quite a bit if development to be better than Hughes is now.
I don't know if you actually pay attention, but Hughes and Makar are pretty much on par in size. Makar of course being a fair bit better with overall game, but you can't discount Hughes for his size and Makar is considered the best dman in the game right now and barely an inch taller and only 7lbs heavier.

I think what the fire Benning crowd wanted was stop making things worse.
- overpay for intangibles
- trade for Miller
- trade for Toffoli
- let UFA’s walk for nothing
- trade for Schmidt
- sign Holtby (and buy him out)
- trade for OEL/Garland

Basically, if Benning had just not done the thing he thought he should do they would be in a way better place. Allow those earlier ugly contracts to expire on their own, sign shorter term guys to hold the fort while you stockpile draft picks and prospects and invest in their development. Every time he made a mistake he made another one trying to correct it.

Having said that, things have continued since so…

If he has just resigned Tanev instead of trading for Schmidt and resigned Toffoli so he didn't need to go get Garland (who i love having on the team btw) we could have that 9th OA pick and be better.

Yeah, that’s kind of what I meant by making more mistakes trying to fix a mistake.

Instead of buying out Holtby (so he could trade for OEL) there would never have been Halak’s horrible play or bonus overage, no buyout payments and Holtby likely would have been better in year 2. Doing nothing would have been better.

He was desperate to find some semblance of success. It eluded him every year except his first year and that was really just the last hurrah of the Sedins.

In the years leading up to Tanev's contract year he was missing 30 games a year. We were no closer to a cup than we are today.

I don't think there is just single mistake that has resulted in the current state of the Canucks. I think it is error after error piled on and I really don't think anyone knows how to fix this current group, and that is why I finally am on the side of tear it down and start again.

I don't respect Rachel D much as a hockey person but this comment of if you have a bad foundation might be bang on.
