I think one of the few downsides to having more depth it is that it is harder to take a flyer on someone because there are fewer spots. I think going forward we might only take flyers on guys that have some real upside (age, physical ability). I get a kick watching Garf lose his chili every other day when some scrub is released.

Sure looked like Bear was more than replacement level the other night.
Tonight will be a good challenge for that young D, Carolina will come hard and fast on the forecheck. We are lucky they played last night

I said this the other night. They've been down 3 defenseman for the better part of a week and have been just fine. While I don't think you can keep that up for months, none of those injuries sound like they're super long term. I'd rather see them bolster the top 6 forward ranks. I still don't trust that group as a whole over an 82 game season. The only ones I trust to carry this type of success over an 82-game season are Thompson and Tuch. Cozens is close, but I'm not quite there with him yet. The fact that Okposo need to be a consideration in the top 6 says you're not deep enough up front.

Two observations:

1) There isn't anything to be ashamed about having Okposo on the first line. It is only for right now and right now it is really, really helping the entire lineup.
2) You're not wrong about the upgrades. The problem is that the upgrade would be from Okposo, and he is your captain. I know you are saying that we should upgrade and that means sending him back to the fourth line. This means that one of the kids needs to sit. It all comes back to letting the kids play and worrying about upgrades only when we are sure a kid isn't working or a hockey trade is available to upgrade prospects.
