I still would have traded for Bear in a second, especially for what it took. The guy is only Avg. 20min a night for Vancouver and a positive player. They play different sides Boss. Hell they could have been your 3rd pair, allowing Lyubushkin to move up with Power - Buff36

Of course you would have traded for bear still.
In your world, trading for bear will never be wrong.

Imagine trusting their own prospects and finding a player in clague.
Imagine trading for bear and not seeing their own hard work thru.
Why not you kept asking ?
The answer, maybe someone in the organization was ready. - Boss34
bear has right shot
clague has left shot

So the Sabres have the Youngest Team in the NHL, they seem to have the makings of a very young core. When it's possibly done your looking at between 21 and 26yrs old with not many at that 26 age yet. Sabres have a very deep prospect pool. With the age of the team, how many of these prospects will actually ever see the ice for the Sabres are they gonna be able to properly evaluate all of them. When is it time to use that deep prospect pool to add a certain piece that could help you for today and a for a few years - Buff36
Not sure honestly.
The log jam is at C IMO.
I also think 12 games in is on the early side to have a proper evaluation of Quinn and Krebs specifically. Quinn looks to me like he is taking some positive steps, and his history is that of a longer time to get acclimated each time he moves up. Mitts is a bit older, so he has a shorter runway to me. He is playing quite well though, does more time help or hurt his trade value? Does more time help reveal what Krebs will be? I'm now thinking 3C.
Btw,
Robertson on pace for 50+ G's
Debrincat on pace for 15 G's. He is posting some good A's though, but seems to miss Kane.

We weren't having a hockey conversation though.
36 acting like we found something in clague/ sabres defensive depth.
36 wanted to trade for bear. Which would have not allowed us to trust our own depth and not add 2m more.
Unfortunately for you, sam reinhart and your 100% love for him can never be overlooked. It's your hockeybuzz legacy defending him.
Think before you post, if you're actually trying to have a hockey conversation and not dig at another poster.

Probably tough too add 6+ million to the salary structure, once the Sabres start extending dahlin, dozens, tuch ect.
I wouldn't want McCabe, eichel, risto or reinhart back,
I see how the team is playing and there is need no for those guys. |

Good, at -10% Rel Corsi he should be making some form of contribution.
Why does he need to block so many shots, because the puck is in his zone significantly more. |

Think Debrincat would have fit better here, actually think we have more playmakers than pure shooters. I wasn't really even considering those 2. I don't even think we have to use them to get a solid piece that could help us. |

I forgot about the tearful summer of not acquiring the cat.
Debricat would be on a 50 goal pace here. Right?
Your deflection is real. It's always something.
He would have been an epic terrible signing and was boosted by pk88 |

And how would Bear have blocked us from seeing are depth. I Mean I can understand not wanting to take away Pilut and Fitz playing 7m a night. God Forbid |

They could extend Dahlin next offseason and still be under the floor, money should really be no reason for the Sabres not to make a good acquisition when the time is right. |

The Sabres spend a lot of time evaluating the system, you were pretty high on pilut correct?
The dahlin and bush injuries occurred well after the bear trade to Vancouver.
I'm really down on fitz and pilut now myself.
Everyone was worried about waivers ect.
Not so worried anymore.

I think its gonna get expensive pretty soon.
Might be looking at 10-12 million for dahlin
7 x 7 for cozens
Power
Okposo

Ya, Cap for the next 3 or 4 seasons should not be a major issue in making the necessary moves.
It is more about who are the right guys to pursue...attitude, position, age, production are all priority elements, the Cap is a distant concern. |

Let's call it
+$5m for Dahlin ($11m total)
+$5m for Cozens ($6m total)
+$6m for Power ($7m total)
That's +$16m
Dump Okposo and Girgs, that is -$8m savings, couple with Bishop's $5m for a total of $13m to fund those contracts, leaving them around $16m under the Cap ceiling.
Cap is a non issue, even if they bring in $10m player
