Carolina had a tough game last night against Tampa that ended with them winning in a shoutout after dropping 55 shots on Tampa during the game. Can the Sabres grind down a high quality, structured team like them in the 3rd period like they did against Pittsburgh?

Must see TV tonight.

Sabres are trying to develop and put pieces in place to be a Championship Team. Sabres have a lot of young D man, 3 or 4 are probably no more than 6 or 7 D . They really have no one coming up maybe Lindgren, but that's a ways away, if Johnson walks there really f@cked. I really don't understand the flake from people if they would have tried Bear or if they traded for Holl. Maybe they work or maybe they don't. Really doesn't hurt you to find out other than a 5th and 3.6mill in cap, I know that hurts and only leaves us 16m under the ceiling, damn were Broke!! Hell might get Lucky and 1 of those pieces fit nicely and damn you got a cheap Dman and a pick to boot. We are developing and building, doesn't mean you stop trying to find better material.

Locker room chemistry is something you don't mess with. Anyone coming in has to mesh with the current group. Everyone needs to chill the frank out on 6th/7th dmen.

I think folks round here are much more concerned about getting the right players than the cost to acquire them.

Of course, but doesn't mean you don't try and those players you acquire might be more than that.

Understand, but you don't know if you don't try. Sooner than later the Sabres are gonna have to reach out past there blockade around the arena.

Sure. But we should also realize/accept that most of this team is here. Sure you might be swapping out a couple parts here and there, but it's probably almost set. I mean if Cozens sits on his projected path, is he the 2C? Do you move off Mitts and swap him in a trade or UFA? Joker? Like there's not a lot of gaps here. Many of these guys are still growing. And many will need to be paid big boi contracts.

What players around the league right now both makes this team better in short/long term, while simultaneously their team is willing to trade that guy?

In sports, and life in general, making changes when things aren't going well is easy, but making changes when things are going well is bold, and takes real commitment and guts.

It's often what's needed to get you over the finish line, but most shy away because of things are going well, don't change anything mentality.

IMO the bigger question is trying to figure out if adams is even willing to make a trade right now or in an evaluation holding pattern

I think we all know how important vibes are, but is it the be all end all?

Were vibes critical when Riley Sheahan's significant other went off on social media about Riley being assigned to Rochester?

fwiw dreger claimed we were actively looking for a defenseman. I think Adams is as proactive as any GM in the league. The difference is, many of those GMs are dealing with much older players. Kevyn has an entire barn of developing players.

I think when the team proves they have real promise, and need a piece to get them to the next level, he'll do what he needs to do to get them there.

He did his job this summer, filled the gaps and is allowing his young talent to grow, as repeatedly promised.

There's a lot involved with the word here in your post above.

Does here mean on the NHL roster? Does it mean on the NHL roster and in the pipeline overall?

Can the Sabres not look to improve upon what is already here, as you called it?

There's also a ton of the season left, and lots of games against what we all perceive to be quality teams.
