"More and more people in the hockey world say to me daily now did they sign the right guy in the summer.."

The first thing I thought when I saw the announcement is why didn't they get Horvat done first?

Maybe they are staying on the ice longer in case some other average player in the locker room stands up and gives them a State of the Union rah rah speech?

I think it's unreasonable to send a player like Demko to a divisional rival.
- NorthNuck

If you decide to rebuild, I don’t think it matters. If you’re trying to make the playoffs, of course not.

Because he’s a nice guy but there’s a culture issue within the room and he’s the captain.

Thought communication was supposed to improve without Benning?

Rutherford didn’t know Boudreau’s contract details

Now heated discussions with players’ agents

- Nucker101

It may have something to do with Rutherford telling the room he'll waive players if things don't improve, probably said the same to their agents as well.

It’s like when your parent or teacher scolds you. You get your poop together for a bit but eventually you slack off again. Except those are kids and these are grown men so it’s funnier.

This core doesn’t have that same drive to win as that core did.

They get sad/depressed when they lose, not angry. Then Bruce has to hold their hand.

His agent should hold their feet to the fire. He's producing and will be paid, by someone.

Depends on what you mean by rebuild. If you're keeping Petey and Hughes, by the time you're hoping to be competing, Demko will still be in his prime with the team you trade him to.

Personally I think you keep him and just be content with the fact that you have your G position covered for many years.

They beat the other last place team last night, the score was 8 to 5, not exactly a beautiful defensive systems play display. If that was a good team they’d have lost 6-1. The issues are still there.

Another day in paradise. Been going on since 2013. I bet the Canucks have the record for the most players only meeting in the last decade.

I just tune it out now.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, he's being honest with everyone. Sending a strong message to the players and their reps isn't a bad thing when you don't produce. I wonder if OEL was one of them?

If they did a proper rebuild, traded Demko, Horvat & Miller, they’d hope to be good again in five years, I’m guessing. Petey would be 28 and Hughes would be 27. Demko would be 31 and passed his prime.

OEL can't be waived. He is the only player on the team that can't be. I guess he wasn't one of them?

If you’re not getting good offers for him then sign him, which they did. He’s still very tradable in my opinion. He’s still producing offensively and he’s an asset you don’t let walk for free.

They should both be traded imho!!

Irrelevant as he doesn’t have to be great defensively if he’s providing tons offensively, he just has to be adequate and out score his defensive issues. I had a discussion with Ray Ferraro one time on a flight about this nonsense that every player has to be all-world in every situation…it’s garbage.

I wonder if JTM/Agent were made aware of the possibility he may be traded?

You'd think the fact that we wouldn't put an NTC/NMC on this year's contract would have made them aware.

He’s playing on the contract he signed with Tampa Bay.

Unless you mean the Canucks had the option as to whether or not they honour his NTC protection or not, which they didn’t.

“CLAUSE DETAILS: Miller was traded on June 22, 2019, prior to his Modified NTC coming into effect, giving Vancouver the option of voiding clause. CapFriendly has confirmed that Vancouver did not honor his trade clause.
CLAUSE SOURCE: CapFriendly”
